Welcome back, choir! We have missed you! It was so wonderful to see everyone return to choir this evening for the first rehearsal of the season - catching up with fellow singers, enjoying delicious snacks, getting to know our new Choral Scholars, and of course, a bit of rehearsing. There’s still room for YOU to join us! Message us to find out how. 🎶

The former chancel organ blower is off to its new home in a new organ at a Methodist church in Weatherford, TX. Installed at St. Stephen in 1976 when the 6 rank chancel organ was added, it served well for almost 50 years with no mechanical issues. Since the chancel organ was expanded to 29 ranks in 2025, it was replaced with a larger blower. It’s wonderful to see these old parts find new life in other places!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: The Chorister program at St. Stephen is back!

🎶Rehearsal on Wednesdays from 5:15–6:15 pm(first rehearsal is September 9)
🎶Sings one to two times a month during worship, participating in Choral Evensong on occasion
🎶The Choristers is essentially a youth choir grades 4–12. (Grades 9–12 are recognized as Senior Choristers)
🎶Using the Royal School of Church Music curriculum - an internationally recognized program that develops music reading, vocal skills, and musicianship. As choristers progress, they receive special recognitions, including their white surplice and later medals and ribbons that mark each achievement (kind of like karate belts, but not as dangerous!). St. Stephen is currently the only church in Fort Worth that provides this opportunity.
🎶BONUS - the Choristers will have the opportunity to join the adult Sanctuary Choir on their 2028 England/Scotland tour
🎶To register your child for Choristers, email the director, Jordan Smith: [email protected]

A very generous donor has made possible the addition of 4 of the prepared stops in the Gallery Organ. When the new console was planned, it was designed with future, carefully planned, additions in mind. We are grateful for this generous gift which allows the organ to have even more color. In this case, a soaring large-scale Harmonic Flute, a little quirk and spice with the Septieme and None, and added softer solo reed color with the Cromorne. With these additions, the Sanctuary Organ now totals 100 ranks and just over 6,000 pipes.

Great:
8’ Harmonic Flute (61 pipes)

Choir:
1 1/7’ Septieme (61 pipes)
8/9 ‘ None (61 pipes)
8’ Cromorne (61 pipes)

*Interesting fact: The original Möller had a Krumhorn, however, it was removed in the 90s to provide a free wind chest for the installation of the 1916 8’ Clarinet from Broadway Presbyterian. The old Krumhorn is now at Peace Lutheran Church in Hurst.

Thanks also to Wolf Pipe Organs for completing this work and for caring for our instrument!
