What you see: Pages falling from the sky. 📄
What you don’t see: The crew picking up every single one.

The magic of Casanova didn’t stop when the curtain went up—or even when it came down.

That spectacular final scene required special flame-retardant paper, carefully released from above the stage and then gathered by our crew after each performance to be used again for the next show. It’s just one small example of the countless theatrical and technical details happening behind the scenes to make a ballet look effortless onstage.

More than 120 crew members and staff came together to bring Casanova to life—from the wings to the wardrobe shop, backstage to the lighting booth, and everywhere in between.

To every person who moved a piece, called a cue, built a set, fixed a costume, managed a quick change, swept up the aftermath, or worked behind the scenes to make the magic happen, thank you. 🤍

We’re so grateful for the warm welcome you gave Casanova.

Thank you for being open to something bold and new, for embracing a different side of ballet, and for taking this journey with us. Your enthusiasm reminds us why it matters to take risks, challenge expectations, and create work that keeps ballet moving forward.

And this is just the beginning. As Texas Ballet Theater enters its next chapter, we’re excited to continue bringing variety to our stages, new perspectives to our audiences, and challenging work to our dancers.

From the wings, you see the part of ballet audiences rarely get to witness—the work behind the beautiful, polished production.

For weeks, our dancers and artistic team have spent long days in the studio bringing Casanova to life. Since rehearsals began in August, hundreds of hours have gone into learning choreography, refining details, solving challenges, and building something together.

And with countless hours spent side by side, something else happens: friendships grow, trust deepens, and a company becomes a family.

A peek behind the curtain, just moments before it goes up on opening night of Casanova. ❤️‍🔥 🎭

While our audience members find their seats, on the other side of the curtain the dancers are doing their final warm-ups, trying out steps one last time, and finding their focus before places are called. Weeks of rehearsals have led to this moment, and our dancers can't wait to take the stage for you tonight. Fort Worth, it's finally here!
