The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra is deeply committed to uniting its community through performance, education, and outreach, reaching an audience of more than 200,000 annually. Since its beginnings in 1912, the FWSO has been an essential thread in the city’s cultural fabric and the very foundation of Fort Worth’s performing arts. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as part of SHIFT: A Festival of American Orchestras. The FWSO has released 13 recordings – with several being world premiere releases – garnering international acclaim. The FWSO has embraced creative collaborations through residencies, partnerships, and commissions. As the principal resident company of the acoustically superb Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall, the Orchestra performs a full season of concerts featuring internationally acclaimed guest artists and works by living composers. The Orchestra performs and partners with Jake Heggie, Texas Ballet Theater, Atlanta-based glo, Fort Worth Opera, The Cliburn, Fort Worth Botanic Garden, The Old Trout Puppet Workshop, and Performing Arts Fort Worth. If you’re joining us for Sunday’s matinee performance of The Classical Style at Bass Performance Hall, please be aware of road closures surrounding Sundance Square due to a nearby festival.

⏰ Plan ahead and arrive early!
🚪 Doors Open: 1:00 PM
🎶 Performance Begins: 2:00 PM

We strongly encourage all patrons to allow extra travel time, plan their routes accordingly, and arrive as close to 1:00 PM as possible to allow plenty of time for parking and getting settled.

After all, you wouldn’t want to miss a single note of Mozart’s Symphony No. 35, “Haffner”—he’d never forgive you! 😉

The Classical Style: An Opera (of Sorts) tackles the question of classical music's place in the modern world through comedy, clever musical references, and a cast of legendary composers who aren't quite ready to be forgotten.

With plenty of laughs, unexpected twists, and music performed live by the FWSO, this is one history lesson you won't want to miss!

Take a peek behind the scenes as the characters of The Classical Style: An Opera (of sorts) make their journey from words on a page to fully realized personalities onstage. We love how much can happen in one piece of music. You’re listening to something soft and gentle, and a few moments later the whole orchestra comes in and you’re completely caught up in it.

That’s something to listen for in Mozart’s Haffner Symphony, part of Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra’s The Classical Style, October 9–11 at Bass Performance Hall. 🎻

When one performer plays multiple characters, a costume has to do more than look good—it has to help tell the story.

Behind the scenes of The Classical Style, each character is being given a dramatically different look so the moment an artist returns to the stage, you know you're meeting someone new.

Different colors. Different silhouettes. Different details. Entirely different personalities.

Our costume designer takes us inside the process as the characters of The Classical Style go from concept to costume.

And this weekend, you'll see the finished transformations onstage.

Why does one character need two wigs? 🎭

Before the final wig is pinned into place for the performance, each artist rehearses in a separate wig—giving them time to get comfortable with how it feels, moves and becomes part of the character.

It’s one of those behind-the-scenes details you might never think about from your seat, but it’s all part of bringing the wonderfully theatrical world of The Classical Style to life.
