Thank you to everyone that has supported this movement of creating DIY events and activities in support of emerging artists in Fort Worth. Since June of 2016 the Artluck name became synonymous with figure drawing sessions, pop-up group art shows and small concerts. Something I created to serve as a platform for my interest in figure drawing later bloomed into something much larger with the sacrifice and help of others. This community wasn’t the first to carry out such a selfless mission and we won’t be the last. It’s inspiring to witness the growth of our 817 art scene and the amount of fraternity it’s produced over the past six years.
2019 was a year of many changes for me personally, but also for the projects I’ve been leading. A time of reconfiguring, observing and adapting. Artluck began to organize as a non-profit early in the year and in that process the mission was reimagined. Thank you to those that patiently walked through that experience with me. More on that later this year.
During this pause, something new and just as exciting took shape on Race Street, east of Downtown. The studios that at one point were second home to seven artists and is the home base of Artluck, went through a transformation. A monthly artist feature was introduced in February and the space was finally used as a showroom. The space has been made available for photo and film projects by brands like Kia and Dickies. Local brand WERO has recorded podcasts, a book release, artist-led painting classes and private events have made it an eventful year. Details are still being ironed out, but the growing process has been invigorating. Through this additional platform I hope to continue the tradition of exposing new emerging local and, hopefully, nationwide talent to Fort Worth locals.
A huge thank you to our sponsors, those who have remained, gone and the ones that decided to join in the fun recently. You’ve been a source of motivation, have added validity to the brand and enhanced our experiences like no other.
