Summer days and Ramona for the win!!

4 AM call. I was out the door before the sun even thought about rising, driving through the dark to Texas Health Mansfield to meet this family.

Nine hours later, at just after 1 PM, he was here.

That stretch of time between arrival and birth is something I will never get tired of witnessing. The quiet intensity of early labor. The way a room shifts as things get closer. The moment a partner steps up in a way they didn’t even know they could. And then — that first cry( which seemed like it took forever). Every single time, it gets me.

Birth is not a pretty, perfectly lit moment. It is raw and hard and holy and I am so honored to be the one in the corner documenting every bit of it.

If you are pregnant and you have never considered a birth photographer, I want you to know: you do not have to remember every detail on your own. That is what I am here for.

Yes, it’s a late bedtime. No, you will not regret it.

Summer sessions outside right now are something else. The sun is staying up so much longer and that golden hour light – soft, warm, glowy – it shows up right when everything finally slows down at the end of the day.

Your kids are relaxed. The chaos of the day is behind you. And the light is doing exactly what you want it to do.

A little later than your usual routine is a small price for photos that actually look like summer felt.

This is what I hear most after birth sessions.

You are so deep inside the work of it that you don't have the capacity to observe yourself. You're just doing the thing. And then it's over and the world slows down and someone hands you a gallery and you get to see yourself the way the people who love you saw you that day.

That is the gift. That's the whole thing.
