The OG Art Teacher

The OG Art Teacher My name is Olivia and I am the "OG" art teacher and artist. I teach virtual art sessions for 30$ an hour, based on the materials you want to use.

I take commissions for watercolors and pencil drawings which start at 50$. I taught art for 11 years in Title 1 schools. I chose to follow my heart and my dreams when the pandemic hit and create art for myself and others as a small business. Teaching private sessions has been an incredible experience for me because the connection created through the art process is soulful and joyful. I believe tha

t anyone can create art that is personally meaningful and therapeutic, even if we start with stick figures. Creating art commissions for people is a source of happiness for me. I find that painting or drawing something that is important to you brings a special light into my life. I love painting portraits of people and pets, along with important locations, vacation spots, cars, and memories. I work primarily from photographs that you supply digitally and as I progress through your art piece, I create an open dialogue for the art piece you desire. Overall, my goal is to create positive memories, whether through art classes to create your own or your child's work or to create something you can always enjoy. I accept venmo, paypal, cash app, zelle, apple pay, checks, and, if you choose, tips.

Getting back into the swing of things after my hernia repair two weeks ago. Today’s zoom sessions were wonderfully different. In one, I was student directed and in the other I directed the student. In my student directed session we drew a tree that one could drink fresh water from in a dimension that had dogs with human heads attached to their backs. In my second session, I taught a student how to use oil pastel to draw and color a dolphin. We talked about how oil pastel is kind of like sculpting on paper with your fingers when you blend. This morning was lots of fun.

A coloring sheet I drew for the Big Bugs family art workshop I’m running tomorrow morning at the Botanic Garden in Fort Worth. I’m super excited to see what kinds of bug sculptures people will make.

A recent lesson with a client. Beach ball shadows from 2D to 3D based on light source (the sun) at various times of day. The skull had little to do with this particular lesson, though I imagine I will offer it as a session should the occasion arise. Then some photos of my home office, some art, the flat files, art storage, and the TV room.

Thinking about what to do for the summer? Want a creative outlet? For you or your kid? Or both? Book art sessions with me. In person or virtual. All ability. My technique is on the relaxed and encouraging side, everyone’s got a little artist within. It’s all about embracing the self and your personal style. We are not robots, we won’t make the same art piece. The options are endless… within reason. 😂✨ sessions start at 40$ an hour in person, local, and 30$ virtual.

This is a portrait I did in pencil of my wife as a gift. I finally framed it and hung it on the wall behind our bed. I’m open for commissions if anyone wants portraits of loved ones or pets. This is a gift that will last forever and is unique. And you support a small business.
