Happy New Year's Greetings to all!

I have been sick and was not able to attend Steppes 12th Night yesterday.

Thus I just realized that today is the first Sunday of January. I am canceling todays practice.

Now to remind us all that the 3rd Sunday this month is 1/19. We can have a practice then, as usual from 2-4pm, at my house.

Sat, 1/11, is Elfsea's Yule. There will be filk and traditional carol singing. I was not asked nor do I know if we, as a Chorale, are expected to do anything, other than just sing with the Barony under someone else's direction.

I am not going g to this event. I look forward to seeing you at our next rehearsal on 1/19.

We had a great practice today with The Elfsea Chorale. 5 good gentles together, including a new member to our Barony, Han Drouet. Thank you all!

Dan Levine is coming out to my house for a 2pm practice today.

Ok, this is a tad bit outside of the SCA claimed period but I am interested in learning about these.. You know, if gentles can represent before 400AD why can't we go a little beyond Elizabeth I, after all, this happened in the reignof one of her heirs....I believe during the Restoration period of King Charles II?

On 2 September 1666, the a fire began at a baker's house in Pudding Lane. The resulting conflagration, which became known as the Great Fire of London raged for days, and caused the destruction of most of the medieval City of London.

I've collected some of the ballads describing the fire, printed in that year, along with their music in my booklet London Mourning in Ashes.
