Last Thursday, we attended the Lake Como Neighborhood Advisory Council meeting and met with community members about the Horne St Public Art project. During our pre-design phase, our goal is to hear the community and get to know their wants/needs. Thank you to those of you who came out and participated in our Cultural Speed Dating and our Poem/Art exercises. We really enjoyed sharing and learning with you! Make your voices heard and support our art community! A Public Meeting will be held to determine the future of the Fort Worth Community Arts Center on Thursday, March 30 at 6 p.m. at 1300 Gendy Street. Arts Fort Worth invites you to attend the Public Meeting and share your thoughts and concerns with the task force.

The Fort Worth Community Arts Center is a unique and special space in Fort Worth providing a quality event, visual, and performing arts venue for all of the community. This historic and dynamic arts complex boasts eight galleries, artist and performance studios, and office suites for nonprofit arts organizations and is managed by Arts Fort Worth on behalf of the City of Fort Worth. In view of pre-existing repair needs, the City Council has appointed a task force to determine future uses of the City-owned building at 1300 Gendy.

Here is our Public Art Team with mentor Darryl Ratcliff and Fort Worth Public Art! This was from our first meeting/retreat in January. What does a conceptual, socially engaged public art sculpture look like in the context of a historically Black neighborhood? We are going to work together with the Como community to figure it out.
