Carlos Ware, professionally known as Brotha Los, is a Washington, D.C.–born artist whose evolution from lyricist to independent media powerhouse reflects the spirit and grit of the DMV. Emerging from the city’s vibrant hip‑hop and spoken‑word scene, Los built his name on raw lyricism, cultural truth‑telling, and a commitment to preserving authentic D.C. artistry at a time when commercialism threatened to bury it.
Founder of Live Society improvisational hip hop band along with Black Indian got national exposure in the Source Magazine's Unsigned Hype in 1998. Brotha Los was also a member of the Infinite Loop a hip hop collective of emcees and producers.
As the industry shifted, Los shifted with it — not by conforming, but by creating his own lane. He founded U Street TV Media, an independent production platform dedicated to documenting real talent, real stories, and real community. Through videography, editing, and cinematic storytelling, he transformed himself from an artist the industry tried to silence into a media voice the city now depends on.
Today, Brotha Los stands at the intersection of art, activism, and independent media, capturing the DMV’s culture with the same intensity he once brought to the mic. His work highlights local creators, community movements, and the evolving identity of Washington, D.C., ensuring that the stories often overlooked by mainstream outlets are preserved with clarity and respect.
