Had a great time last Saturday with the folks from Fort Wainwright BOSS. Great group of soldiers and a whole lot of fun riding snowmachines in the White Mountains.

This past week we had 2 platoons from the 1/24 Infantry Regiment participate in the Warrior Adventure Quest program! Their high-adventure activity of choice was reball 🔫 (like paintball but with rubber balls), which took place in the laser tag arena at the Last Frontier Community Activity Center. This adrenaline filled activity allowed the opportunity to enhance communication skills, to strategize, and to have a fun day with their unit! After reball, they took the chance to wind down and enjoy a BBQ and axe throwing 🪓.

If you’re not familiar with the Warrior Adventure Quest (WAQ) program, it is an Army wide program that focuses on enhancing unit cohesion, individual/unit morale, and combat readiness through participation in high-adventure activities! It is open to all active duty soldiers and the best part is it’s absolutely FREE to the individuals/units involved!

It is super easy to start organizing this for your unit and there are few requirements that need to be met.
1) the activity must be done at the platoon level and everyone within the platoon is supposed to be involved.
2) individuals can only participate once every 365 days.
3) the activity must take place during normal duty days/hours.
4) your Company Commander must sign the endorsement form to approve the units involvement.

It’s that easy! So if you’re interested in getting something organized for your platoon, give us a call at (907) 361-2652! But call soon because our summer calendar is filling up quick!

As ski school ⛷ at Birch Hill skids to an end, we wanted to share the kiddos having fun being caterpillars 🐛 as they learned the pizza 🍕 aka slowing down/stopping.

With the longer days and increasing temps, make sure you hit the slopes at Birch Hill before the season is officially over!

We’ve had an eventful week here at ODR! 🤙🏻

Last Sunday we took a group out to fat bike 🚴 in the White Mountains (no picture proof 😔) where we cycled for 12 miles through the hilly terrain 😮‍💨

Last Tuesday on International Women’s Day we took a rad group of ladies out on a Bike and Brew adventure where we fat biked 🚴‍♀️ from ODR to one of Fairbanks’s local breweries 🍺

And yesterday we had the opportunity to head out on a hike to experience the Castner Glacier ice cave! Although it was a little windy, the sun blessed us with its rays ☀️ and allowed us to view the mountains for miles 🗻🗻

As temperatures begin to rise 🌡 and summer heads our way, make sure to keep your eyes and ears open for all our upcoming adventures!!

We had another great day taking B.O.S.S. members out on another adventure yesterday! We headed out to the Rosie Creek trail system where we learned the basics of classic cross-country skiing ⛷ The group picked up on the techniques rather quickly and we were able to enjoy the 5mi loop, all while basking in the sunlight ☀️😎

We’re starting this week off right! Instead of doing their usual PT routine, members of 25th BSB took advantage of our indoor climbing wall for their morning PT 🧗‍♂️ If you or your unit are also interested in using our wall for PT, just give ODR a call and we’ll get you scheduled in!

If you’re interested in climbing in your free time, our wall is available anytime ODR is open and we also offer belay certification lessons!

So come on over and get your climb on! 🤘🏻

Here’s an update on the latest changes to the Yukon Quest! If you’re on post you should be able to view the teams on the Chena River from any of the bridges on post OR by the boat launch at ODR (parking limited)! Please be cautious of walking on the river and be aware of your surroundings, as many moose have been recently spotted in Glass Park and on the actual river.
