Our Love Story
Lydia was less than a month shy of turning 17, and Sully had just turned 18. Both of their families went to St. George for the very first time.
Lydia was in a pink house with Sully in the blue house right beside her. After a few days of Sully eyeballing Lydia all week, her momma said, “Just go talk to the boy. You’ll never see him again.”
Lydia proceeded to ask his sisters to go play volleyball. He, of course, came along. When they returned from the game, Sully wrote his phone number in the sand. He invited her to go out on the beach later that night to go crab catching. Meanwhile, he’d been building a beautiful sandcastle all day and then went back out to decorate it with seashells for them to sit by and talk that evening.
That evening did include crab catching but mainly consisted of a lot of talking and seeing a falling star. Lydia knew that God was sending a sign.
The next morning, Sully’s mom thought angels had placed those shells on the castle, for she did not know he had gone out on the beach on a date. 😂
Three days later, he told his dad he was going to marry me. His response was, “The girl from Kentucky?!” (He was from Georgia.)
Two years later, he proposed at the same beach.
FIFTEEN years later, we are continuing to tell our rare and beautiful love story to our three beautiful children.
