Well, folks, by now I'm sure you know that we will be moving to Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala in December. Please let Peter know soon if you want to special order something. Former clients are ordering dinnerware now that they have wanted for years. It's now or never. be sure to order fairly soon so that all the orders don't pile up in November when there may not be time to finish them all.

Peter will still be potting in Central America but the clay will be different and so will the glazes. Furthermore, it will be difficult to ship to the US.

I bet the red that they describe at the end is Peter's Copper Red. This is the story of Peter's porcelain and a bit about why it is so much more expensive than Stoneware. Both are high fired and vitrified.

After Marco Polo encountered porcelain, in fourteenth-century China, the fine pottery became an object of love, greed, and fetishization in the West

Hey folks we have heard from friends they heard we are moving. Not so. At least not yet, probably not for quite a while. Yes we are researching places to retire too someday. We'd move to France but we can't afford too. We might go to a mountain town in Panama. We might go to Antigua, Guatemala, We Might go to a valley in the Ecuadoran Andes (we have to research that.) So its a long process. We have to sell property (We're house poor). Peter is potting, writing more songs (6 this time away), playing music, performing, Marget is becoming a travel writer and Photographer. She's joined the ITWPA and is studying a lot about it. If you have any venues to sell/publish stories let her Know. WE WANTED TO CLEAR UP THE RUMOR. PASS IT ON.

We drove home from Miami Via Savannah, GA. It was on Peter's Bucket list and was nice in January with few tourists. Got some good pics of Spanish Moss.... Marget will be writing a travel article on Savannah soon.

We are in the mountains in Panama. The wind is rushing unbelievably around us. I think it's about like the Mistral in Provence. It's mighty powerful. We left Boquete yesterday where the mist from the mountain in the wind was mighty powerful. Now We are on the other side of the mountain in Volcan. It is dry and sunny but even more windy. We are on the edge of a mountain with nothing between us so the wind just keeps on roaring by. It's coming from the Caribbean. The Pacific is an hour and a half away.

We are taking a break now that the Christmas shows are over. It was a good year and no shows were cancelled by bad weather! We are visiting friends in Antigua, Guatemala. Marget's lust for fiber is nearly filled. The masks available in the market stalls are splendid and some antique ones are available in shops. There is a 2 foot log shaped like St. Michael, as solid as the tree he came from. He's so different from the graceful St. Michael's of European ancestry. He is built like a Maya man and rules thru strength not grace. I want him to come home with me.

We've been to Memphis Pink Palace fair last week. This week were at War Eagle Fair. We're both going to exhibit at the one day fair in Eureka Springs, the Sunday after Thanksgiving. This is a new one for us. And is said to be a really well juried show. So plan on a visit to Eureka after Thanksgiving. The home show will be the weekend before thanksgiving.

We just got back home from the third artist in residence gig. This one was in Clinton Arkansas. It was a delightful experience. Great kids, dandy teacher. And the travel was terrific, Spring was on the trees the whole way. Carol Corning was the teacher.
The week before we were in Melbourne, Arkansas up in the N.E. of the state. Peter's worked with Connie Roberts, the art teacher at the consolidated high school way back before consolidation when she was at tiny Mount Pleasant just down the road. So he's seen several classes graduate and now works with lots of kids who observed him working in school demonstrations when they were just little kid.
Kara Holland was the first residency Peter had this school year. Back before all the ice and snow. He's worked with her in other years as well was with Bob Lowe who taught art in Van Buren before her. Then when she had their baby Peter substituted for six weeks of maternity leave.
It's been a great year. If you hope to get a residency next year get your proposal in very early to the Arkansas Arts Council. They disappear very fast! Contact me if you need help with the forms. They're not hard to do.
