A rep from Army Rugby contacted me about having our guys try out for Vegas 7s. This oppurunity is for high level guys who may eventually have a shot for All Army. Multiple Army teams enter, last year it was 5. The dates for Vegas are 26 FEB to 05 MAR. If you make it you are transfered to Army staff. If you are interested, I will forward you the full e-mail with all the info and contact information.

There is a lot of interest in having our guys play for teams at the tournament. 3 separate teams said they needed people. I'm going to be there. I gave them my phone number. If you're still going give me your number. And I'll help tie you into a team.

If you guys don't know already, we were only able to get 9 guys to pay to get down to Houston for the tournament. So were unable to go down offically. I've posted on the event page asking if any teams are in need of players. If I hear anything I'll spread the word.

As a reminder, no practice this Tuesday in support of our guys playing flag football. We'll start up again as normal on Thursday at 1900. Some people have already given money for the tournament in Houston. Bring in $15 and I'll record you down as paid.

Alright gents, here's where we are at this point. From small to big: Next practice is on Sunday at 1700 at Showboat Theater Field. Bring a couple of cold ones for you and your's if you'd like. There will be no practice on Tuesday in support of our guys playing flag football. We'll pick back up on Thrusday as normal. For the tournament: the organizers gave us a $100 military discount. The cost for us to enter will be $225. Bring $15 to practice if you'd like to play. I'll record your information. If we have extra we will either return funds evenly, use the money for beer, or try to send a second team. I think its possible to field 2 x sides. You must be CIPPed for this tournament. Go to the USA Rugby website and follow the instructions for registration. You want to register with 'At Large - Texas.' Thats the name of the 'club.' Last thing: forming a true team. We are on the border of two geographic unions (True South and Texas) but the closest teams are in Texas so thats the one we'd probably go for. The only thing stopping us is not having a certified coach. If any of you are, or any of you know a coach, please let us know. Otherwise I'll start researching the way ahead on this one. Just so you know, once you register you can transfer teams without paying again, unless you've lapsed. Reply if you have any questions, otherwise I'll just go over this again on Sunday.

The tournament in Houston is called the 6th Annual Lone Survivor Rugby Tournament. It is still accepting registrations. The entrance fee is $325 (about $20 per on a 15-man side) before Nov 1st. Players are required to be CIPP'ed. Teams are guarenteed 3 x 40 min matches at a minimum.

If ya'll are still interested on Thursday, we can move forward with this.
