Florida Rep’s Producing Artistic Director, Greg Longenhagen, recently stopped by Ford’s Garage inn downtown Fort Myers to enjoy the famous “Greg Longenhagen Burger” — and the verdict is in!

Greg reports that the patty melt was “absolutely delicious” and gives it a 10/10 recommendation! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

So the next time you’re headed downtown for a performance at Florida Rep, make it a dinner-and-a-show experience and stop by Ford’s Garage to try the Greg Longenhagen Burger for yourself. After all, how often do you get the chance to eat a burger named after the guy who helps bring great theatre to Southwest Florida? 😊

Florida Repertory Theatre is proud to join community partners in celebrating Juneteenth with a special event this Saturday in downtown Fort Myers.

Recently, WGCU Public Media welcomed Martin Bird, President of 100 Black Men of Southwest Florida; Melinda Golden, Program & Events Coordinator for the Lee County Black History Society; and our own Chris Verrill, Executive Director of Florida Repertory Theatre, to discuss local celebrations commemorating Juneteenth.

Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when emancipation was officially announced in Galveston, Texas, as Union Major General Gordon Granger read General Order No. 3, informing enslaved people in Texas that they were free. While Juneteenth is celebrated nationally on June 19, emancipation reached Florida even earlier—on May 20, 1865.

As part of this important commemoration, Florida Rep and WGCU will host a free screening of a documentary exploring the history of the Black vote in Southwest Florida, including the story of Veronica Shoemaker, the first Black woman elected to the Fort Myers City Council. The screening will be followed by a community discussion and Q&A.

Join Florida Rep this Saturday as we honor history, celebrate freedom, and reflect on the voices and leaders who helped shape our community.

Juneteenth was declared a federal holiday in 2021 when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law. The State of Florida actually recognized Juneteenth back in 1991 under Governor Lawton Chiles, and some Florida municipalities focus their historical Emancipation....

We hate to say goodbye to Babe and Sis from The Queen of Bingo, but what a fabulous run it’s been! 🎉👑

As we wrap up this hilarious hit, we’re celebrating some of the lucky audience members who went home with our famous frozen 10-pound turkeys from the final performances! 🦃

A huge thank you to our incredible cast, dedicated behind-the-scenes crew, volunteers, celebrity bingo callers, and the thousands of audience members who laughed, played, and shouted “BINGO!” right along with us. Your energy made every performance unforgettable.

Thanks for making The Queen of Bingo such a joyful, laughter-filled success. 💜🎭

🌈 Florida Rep is proud to be part of the Southwest Florida Pride Festival in Downtown Fort Myers today — and we’re here until 8:30 PM!

Stop by and join the celebration with incredible food, live music, performances, vendors, and a whole lot of community spirit. Our booth has been buzzing all day thanks to Marketing Manager Trine Alfaro and General Manager Dianne Summers, who have been sharing all the exciting things happening at Florida Rep.

We were also thrilled to run into Advisory Council member Marc Collins and Fort Myers Mayor Kevin Anderson while enjoying the festivities!

The atmosphere is sparkly, festive, welcoming, and full of joy. And the celebration doesn’t end there — the official after-party on the rooftop of The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center continues until 10 PM tonight!
