Join us on Sunday, August 9th, from 4:30-6:00 pm for our August witch crafting class! We’ll be making corn husk dolls, a traditional Native American and Appalachian folk craft made from the dried leaves of a corn cob.

Traditionally, they represented the Spirit of the Corn, and were used to ensure a plentiful crop and welcome fertility for the land. In spiritual work, these dolls can be displayed in the home during the three harvest seasons, Lammas, Mabon, and Samhain. They’re great for protecting your home, ancestor work, grief work, and promoting personal wellness.

We’ll be providing a traditional Lammas craft kit for this class. The kit includes husks, twine, and instructions for creating the husk doll if you ever want to replicate it.

Gay rams have a problem. On many farms, if a ram won’t breed with ewes, it’s often considered commercially unviable and may be sent to slaughter.

Michael Stücke, a farmer from Löhne, Germany, had a different idea.

He started buying Gay rams, sometimes outbidding butcheries, and giving them a permanent home. In 2023, he founded Rainbow Wool, a fashion label that uses their fleece to make caps, patches and shoelaces, with all proceeds supporting LGBTQ+ communities in the 62 countries where being Gay is still illegal. In 12 of those countries, it can carry the death penalty.

His flock now numbers 21 rescued rams.

“They’re safe here,” Stücke says.

One person commented on Rainbow Wool’s Instagram: “I’m the first in my bloodline to read this sequence of words.”

Same, honestly.
