One hundred years later, Miss Lessie lives again.

Those words are actually written on her tombstone: "Live Again.”

And a century after the true story behind "The Gospel According to Tennessee," Lindsey Phillips is one of three cast members who have the privilege of stepping into Miss Lessie’s shoes and bringing her story back to life on the NarroWay stage.

Today, we celebrate the birthday of the woman who first heard the name “NarroWay.” ❤️

Before there was a theatre.
Before there were shows.
Before there was even a clear picture of what the company would become…

God spoke a name to K. Rebecca Martin:

“You’ll call the company NarroWay.”

Rebecca and Birdie didn’t know what that company would do. They only knew the name God had given them—and they were willing to follow Him before they knew where the story would lead.

In 1996, they made the move to South Carolina and incorporated "NarroWay Productions."

And perhaps it’s fitting that Rebecca is the writer of the stories NarroWay has told over the past 30 years.

Because she has always been a storyteller—not just with words, but with people.

Rebecca has a rare gift for seeing what others sometimes miss. She sees potential in people before they recognize it in themselves. She knows how to encourage, challenge and draw out the best in those around her.

She is kind. Generous. Wise. And deeply invested in helping other people become who God created them to be.

She and Birdie have been writing the NarroWay story for over 30 years.

But perhaps the most beautiful part is this:

The first line was written long before she knew what the story would be.

God gave her a name.
She and Birdie said yes.
And the story began.

Today, we celebrate Rebecca— the writer, the visionary, the encourager, the co-founder, and the woman who has spent decades believing in people and helping them discover what they can become.

Happy Birthday, Rebecca! 🎂❤️

If you've ever wondered how NarroWay came to be and who Rebecca and Birdie are, well, here's your chance to share the journey! Join us for "The NarroWay Story," September 17 at 6:30pm at the NarroWay Theatre.

While you're here, you can also walk through a hands-on historical timeline at your own pace, get a first look at what's ahead with our upcoming expansion, enjoy some delicious birthday treats, and meet our newest baby camel, Cleopatra, on her sure-to-be wild stage debut.

There is no charge but tickets are limited and must be reserved.
