So this week we had a tree cut down in our front yard. It was nice and solid so we decided to have the trunk part milled and kept the rest for firewood. Today Enzo went to see the logs the think about what he would like to make out of part of them: It’s a lot of wood! They will be cut next weekend and will have to dry for a long time. We counted the rings and it was over 125 years old. It will make beautiful lumber. Our thoughts so far are floating shelves, a mantle for our fireplace, quarter sawn lumber (tight rings), and who knows what else. So excited that it was saved and that everyone was so helpful.

Someday these will be tables with resin in the middle! Hopefully 🤞🏻😬 these were cut today and need to dry (months and months) but were given to Enzo to experiment with (thank you Greg Starling!). They are Rainbow Poplar and the colors in that wood can be AMAZING!! We’ve never dried our own wood before but seem to be learning something new all the time. Off to buy a moisture meter on Amazon!

We are so happy to get pics of E’s charcuterie boards in action! Thank you!

This is how it all began… Enzo wanted to learn how to put resin in wood. I found a nice guy named Trey that told Enzo all about how to do it and gave him this piece of wood to try it out. It’s not perfect but I love it. He melted crayons and then put the resin over the top. I use it as a plant stand.

How much do Enzo’s projects cost? Projects that don’t need resin or bowties are a little more cost effective (less work/time). If you wonder how Enzo prices things, it really all depends on what he pays for it. Charcuterie boards can start at about $30 and the most expensive so far has been $100 because of the wood. A small table with hairpin legs might be around $150 (has to pay for legs). If you want to order something specific, he can go to his wood guy, pick some things he thinks that you would like and FaceTime you- he can then give you a pretty accurate price. He does have some pieces in the garage but since he doesn’t have a “shop” we don’t keep too much on hand. If you need something shipped we can definitely look into the cost of that for you. A laser engraver may be a future purchase so he could add logos, photos, etc. He is excited about the prospect of what he could do with it but the price tag is hefty for an 11 year old who also likes kid things 😂

One last delivery to WI. This is a gorgeous black walnut charcuterie board. I love how the wood seems to shimmer, the lines, and the variation in color. Mother Nature is truly an artist!

Enzo also delivered a charcuterie board to Uncle Jay. There are a couple of firsts on this one. It had a split so it needed a bow tie and Enzo wanted to put uncle’s initials on it. There is also resin with some brown pigment added to fill the little holes and cracks. Word is that it’s getting displayed because Uncle Jay loves it so much ❤️

How gorgeous is this flame maple charcuterie board?! Enzo delivered this to his Uncle Brandon. Plenty of space on this board! Both sides were sanded so it can be flipped because both sides are SO beautiful. Again, the red is naturally in the wood.

Enzo completed a flame maple charcuterie board and added a small amount of orange resin to fill a hole. It looks amazing! One of our favorite types of wood. The red is naturally in the wood, not added or resin. Some pieces are so beautiful that Enzo sands both sides because either side could be the top. Flame maple is usually a tough decision.
