Happy feast day, Padre Pio

Feast of St. Pio of Pietrelcina
St. Padre Pio was an Italian priest who was known for his piety and charity, as well as the gift of the stigmata, which has never been explained.
"Padre Pio" was born in 1887 in the small Italian village in Pietrelcina. He joined the Capuchin friars at the age of sixteen and was ordained a priest seven years later.
For forty years at the monastery of San Giovanni Rotondo he was a much sought after spiritual adviser, confessor and intercessor whose life was devoted to the Eucharist and prayer.
Yet with such frame, he would often say "i only went to be a poor friar who prays."
Padre Pio died on September 23, 1968. His funeral was attended by over 100,000 people.
Pope John Paul II recognized Padre Pio as a saint on June 16, 2002. His feast day is September 23. He is the patron of civil defense volunteers, adolescents, and the village of Pietrelcina.
