Vernissage: Visage + Portraits Stories – A Celebration of Human Existence through Portraiture
The exhibition showcases a diverse collection of portraits by renowned contemporary artists, each exploring themes of identity, culture, and the social and psychological aspects of human existence. From bold, vibrant imagery to deeply reflective works, these artists provide a profound commentary on the multifaceted nature of our personal and collective histories.
Featured Artists (in order 1-5):
(1st) Egypt Hagan ( ) – A Los Angeles-born muralist and portrait artist, Egypt uses bold, vibrant colors to tell untold stories through portraiture. Her work often emphasizes powerful imagery, celebrating the stories of people and moments that have inspired her journey.
(2nd) Oscar Ukonu ( OSCAR UKONU ARTS ) – A Lagos-based artist known for his distinctive portraiture style, Ukonu interrogates socio-political and historical influences on contemporary African identity. Through his work, he explores the dynamic and evolving constructs of identity, focusing on the psychological aspects of individual experience in today’s digital and media-driven culture.
(3rd) SONA ( ) – A mixed media artist with deep roots in Miami, Sona’s work explores themes of grit, perseverance, and personal growth. Her powerful portraiture addresses both the individual and collective human experience, influenced by her multicultural upbringing and curiosity about indigenous cultures.
(4th) Stefan Smith ( .art ) – A South Florida muralist and artist, Smith’s work delves into the relationships between people of color, cultural identity, and social movements. His focus on public art and immersive experiences invites audiences to reflect on the intersection of art, identity, and economic displacement.
(5th) Anthony Burks Sr. ( Anthony Burks Sr. ) – A Florida native and conceptual artist, Burks blends mind and heart in his works, utilizing a variety of media such as charcoal, pen & ink, pastels, and watercolor. His abstract forms and vibrant colors express diversity, freedom, and the beauty of human experience.
