On our way to Chesterwood, Massachusetts!👏🏼I am being granted the honor of living and working for a month where Daniel Chester French created and sculpted the models for the Lincoln Monument. I have been awarded a Residence and two grants, one from the National Sculpture Society and another from the National Trust for Historic Preservation on a National Competition. This is very exciting! I will be the first woman awarded this honor.
While there I plan to create and sculpt several maquettes. One of them of Dorothy Height, the Civil Rights leader and past President of the National Council of Negro Women for 50 years. She took the leadership after Dr. Bethune founded this organization. She had the foresight of buying their headquarters at Pennsylvania Ave. Across from the National Gallery of Art.
