La Bayadere. Opera Bastille. June 17 — July 14, 2026. La Bayadère returns to the Opera, carrying with it the legacy of Rudolf Nureyev — the artist the world first discovered on the stage of the Palais Garnier in 1961, and who offered his final farewell there in 1992 with his own luminous version of this ballet.
His three act adaptation of Petipa’s masterpiece distills everything he cherished: the grandeur of classical tradition, the sweep of epic storytelling, and the sheer beauty of virtuoso performance.
Set in an imagined India — where a giant elephant greets the rajah’s court and a golden idol shimmers to life — the ballet follows the tragic love of Solor and the temple dancer Nikiya.
A crown jewel of the Paris Opera Ballet’s repertoire, La Bayadère dazzles with its heroic solos, majestic ensembles, and the iconic “Kingdom of the Shades”, where 32 dancers in white tutus descend in hypnotic arabesques, creating a moment of pure, suspended poetry.

Semperoper Dresden — The Italian Straw Hat. 📅 31 May – 11 September 2026
A sparkling comic jewel by Nino Rota, the legendary composer behind The Godfather, La dolce vita, and The Road. Known for his iconic film scores, Rota also created operas of irresistible charm — and The Italian Straw Hat is one of his brightest.
On Fadinard’s wedding day, chaos erupts when his horse devours the straw hat of a lady caught in a secret rendezvous. Unable to return to her jealous husband without a replacement, she sends Fadinard on a frantic chase across Paris — a whirlwind of misunderstandings, disguises, and delightful absurdity.
Rota channels the spirit of opera buffa with music that is witty, effervescent, and full of life. The acclaimed 2023 Graz Opera production by Bernd Mottl — hailed as “delicious operatic fun” by Kurier — places the characters in a world of oversized hat boxes and a nostalgic black and white aesthetic. Mottl notes: “Focusing on patterns and silhouettes allows us to delineate more clearly the differences between the characters.” The result is stylish, clever, and visually irresistible.
Beneath the comedy lies a sharp satire of aristocratic pretence and social hypocrisy — and a tender portrait of ordinary people in love, stumbling through tradition and their own wonderfully ridiculous lives.

This celebrated coproduction of The Royal Ballet, The Royal Opera House, and The National Ballet of Canada first dazzled London in 2011. Now, it arrives at La Scala, bringing Wheeldon’s unmistakable imagination to Milan.
Expect puppetry, surreal projections, breathtaking costumes, and a score that blends contemporary textures with echoes of 19th century ballet tradition.
With Alice, we fall headfirst into a world where logic dissolves and delight takes over. Inspired by Lewis Carroll — the mathematician with a mind full of riddles, humour, and quiet philosophy — this ballet invites both children and adults to rediscover a story they thought they knew.

An evening of grandeur awaits at Italy’s largest opera house, the magnificent Teatro Massimo. The program opens with Leonardo Scicolone’s Per l’umanità — the winning work of the Palermo Scarlatti Conservatory student composition contest.
The journey continues with Carl Reinecke’s graceful Concerto for Flute and Orchestra in D major, Op. 283, followed by the intimate, luminous beauty of Richard Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll.
The night concludes in a blaze of virtuosity with Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 — a sparkling finale of color, brilliance, and temperament.

During his time in Leipzig, Lortzing created true masterpieces, which unite accessibility and artistic ambition. Lortzing's influence continues to shape Leipzig's musical landscape to this day.
For over 25 years, the Leipzig Festival has been transforming the city into a sound space of voices. In 2026, it will once again bring international vocal art to the stage — from classical to contemporary with full of expression. The festival will feature productions of “Regina”, along with "Undine", “The Armourer”, “Tsar and Carpenter” and “The Little Tsar”.

Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), the world’s largest global network of dance, announces its highly anticipated 2026 New York Gala, taking place on April 16, 2026, at the David H. Koch Theater, Lincoln Center. Renowned for bringing together the leading stars of international ballet with the most promising young dancers of the next generation, the Gala continues its celebrated tradition under the theme:
“Stars of today meet the stars of tomorrow.”
This year’s program will feature an exceptional roster of principal artists, including Christine Shevchenko, Calvin Royal III, Polina Semionova, Nicoletta Manni, Timofej Andrijashenko, Román Mejía, and Reece Clarke. These acclaimed performers will appear alongside the winners of YAGP’s international competitions, offering audiences a rare opportunity to witness emerging talent and established artistry on one stage.
The evening will include works by leading choreographers Mauro Bigonzetti, Sharon Eyal, Itzik Galili, Marco Goecke, Melanie Hamrick, and Sir Kenneth MacMillan, reflecting the breadth and innovation of contemporary ballet repertoire.
YAGP is proud to honor Melanie Hamrick and Rebecca Hessel Cohen for their contributions to the arts and their continued support of young dancers worldwide. The Gala will be hosted by Misty Copeland, whose leadership and artistry have inspired generations of dancers.
