Dear FayWhat?!,
I’ve been dating someone for a while, and there’s something happening in our relationship that I don’t know how to feel about.
I’m a drag performer, and my partner LOVES my drag. At first, I thought it was great. They came to my shows, loved seeing me dressed up and made me feel incredibly sexy and confident.
But lately I’ve noticed something that bothers me. They seem more attracted to me when I’m in drag than when I’m just… me.
They’re more affectionate and sexual. They compliment me constantly when I’m dressed, but when the wig and makeup come off, that same energy isn’t there.
I’ve even started wondering if they would have been interested in me at all if I weren’t a drag queen.
Am I overthinking this? Is it okay for your partner to be especially attracted to your drag persona, or is there a point where it crosses into fetishizing me?
And how do I bring it up without making them feel like they’re doing something wrong for loving my drag?
