Written by historian Carole Levin in collaboration with Sabin Epstein and actor/co-creator Tamara Meneghini. This intimate one-woman play brings Elizabeth to life not as a monarch, but as a complex woman whose voice still resonates centuries later

“THE CRIME REPORTER”
A developing play by John Moore
Directed by Christy Montour-Larson

In 1972 suburbia, when a woman’s place at home and in the world was being quickly rewritten in real time, comes this bittersweet comedy of two neighboring mothers on parallel paths toward fulfillment. One tends to her children and home in eager anticipation of her one blissful guilty pleasure: Sitting alone on the back porch smoking a cigarette and getting lost in the scandal and excitement of the weekly police blotter in her hometown paper – while deliciously sniping about the housewife across the street, the mother of eight who dares to have a job outside the home. But as their paths begin to converge with the magical arrival of each new newspaper hitting the front porch, admiration replaces suspicion. As these women start to see themselves in each other, they begin to question the narrow roles they’ve been assigned. “The Crime Reporter” is a story about how small awakenings can spark bigger acts of courage — and how independence sometimes starts with one woman simply seeing another woman more clearly.

Evening in Paris 2026

What a night!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make Evening in Paris 2026 such a spectacular success! We are incredibly grateful to all of our sponsors, guests, supporters, volunteers, and everyone who came together to celebrate and support Bas Bleu, we truly could not have done it without every single one of you.
