This month’s No Picnic Movie Rec is the the 2002 movie adaption- Queen of the Damned!
Based loosely (and I mean very loosely) on books 2 and 3 of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, Queen of the Damned is 101 minutes of pure garbage. And over here at No Picnic, you know we love garbage.
After a long slumber the vampire Lestat (Stuart Townsend) awakens- in glam makeup- to join a nu metal band as their front man. He becomes a flamboyant public figure. This awakens Akasha (Aaliyah) and she tracks down Lestat to wreck havoc on the human world.
Queen of the Damned has an absolute banger soundtrack featuring Disturbed, Static-X, Deftones and more. But the cherry on this whole project is Lestat's songs where written and preformed by Jonathan Davis (Korn).
We over at No Picnic adore this sh*tshow of a movie because it has everything we love- ho******ic vampires, glam divas, lipsyncing to Korn songs, and a plot that makes zero sense.
