Pianos About Town Pianos About Town brings local art and spontaneous music to the streets of Fort Collins. Interested in donating a piano?

Pianos About Town brings spontaneous music and local art to the streets of Fort Collins. Pianos About Town started in 2010 as a collaboration among Bohemian Foundation, the Downtown Development Authority, the City of Fort Collins, business owners and community members. Since then, more than 50 pianos have been collected, decorated and placed into rotation at sites throughout Fort Collins. Donated

pianos are provided to local artists, who work outdoors in Old Town Fort Collins to transform the pianos into visual art. Members of the community are free to observe the work in progress and are invited to chat with the artists to learn about their skills and techniques. Once completed, the pianos take on their new status as interactive public art. Scattered among 20 locations across town in the summer, and six locations in the winter, the pianos offer surprise interruptions of color and music across Fort Collins. The whimsical painted pianos beckon passersby and invite them to make and listen to music together. Please contact Pianos About Town project manager, Liz Good at [email protected].

Not just one artist…but two!✌🏻
That’s right! We’re excited to host two artists for each session of Pianos About Town.

Chyna Mapel is a Loveland based artist who is about as nice as they come! Energetic, friendly and fired up about life and art is how we like our artists!

Head on down to Old Town Square and talk to Chyna about her piece entitled “The Nature Cathedral” from June 5 - 25.

Fort Collins artist Kara Johnson is an absolute pro. She is talented, organized and thoughtful and brings experience to the project. She will be painting her beautiful design entitled “Wild and Rooted” on the south end of Old Town Square from June 5 - June 25.
