This week Governor Jared Polis signed an Executive Order increasing support for volunteer firefighters and first responders amidst increasing wildfire threats. The order directs all state agencies and departments to provide up to five additional days of paid leave for volunteer firefighters and emergency responders.
This is the latest in a series of steps the Polis-Primavera administration has taken to prepare for, prevent, and respond to wildfires. Recent efforts include the Colorado Strategic Wildfire Action Program - which is managing nearly 50 wildfire mitigation projects- securing critical tools like a Firehawk helicopter and AirTanker, investing in an improved statewide dispatch program and innovative support for wildfire victims.
