Kalyn Fay (Cherokee Nation, Muscogee descent) is a songwriter and musician from Oklahoma, who fosters an additional interdisciplinary practice that interweaves visual arts, curation, and education. Born and raised in rural Oklahoma between Cherokee, Muscogee, and Osage territories, they are deeply rooted in their nuanced relationship to Oklahoma, and their musical practice is a reflection of that influence. Focusing on self-location, community, collaboration, and empathy, Kalyn sees their music as a way to lean into personal and shared narratives. Their songs embed Indigenous understandings associated with community and environment, navigatings the ways in which we all intersect with the hopes of building bridges of understanding between. Kalyn Fay’s music is “for you, for me, for us, for we.”

Joined by fiddler ripper Olivia McGraw, the two Oklahoma based musicians create an energy like no other.

Sunday Benefit show Lineup!
Introducing Fort Collins’ own Blake Rouse🪺

Blake Rouse is a folk singer-songwriter from Fort Collins, Colorado. He draws heavy inspiration from folk legends such as Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and Joni Mitchell, creating a unique and almost questionable sounding blend of rich, powerful instrumentals and self-psychoanalytical lyrics. Blake’s music is a true reflection of himself, his thought process, and his insecurities as he dives into adulthood with little to no understanding of how the world works, let alone his own mind.

Sunday Benefit show lineup!
Introducing Joe Kaplow🪴

My music comes from life’s moments — smelling 4 acres of freshly cut grass, watching the steam from a horse’s breath in the early morning, finally holding the neck of my guitar after holding bridles and worn wooden handles all day. 4000 acres of freshly burnt wildfire, watching the steam from the Pacific Ocean’s breath in the early morning, finally holding the neck of my guitar after clutching the worn steering wheel of the tour van all day.

Now my reality is in Bonny Doon, CA, where mountains meet the sea. I am in my recording studio, aptly named Hippie Cowboy, every day. Slow and steady; keep it fun, stay engaged. All for the moment when the song finally sounds right. My dad passed away a couple years ago — his bullwhip is on the wall, his Harley is in the driveway. He visits me in dreams, and oh, the moment I wake up! Sometimes I write for him. Sometimes for my mom, who I hope will move out to California soon. Maybe she could volunteer at an equestrian center…

Sunday’s benefit show Lineup! Introducing Field Guide ☀️

Field Guide makes music at his home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Usually he writes songs in his kitchen, sometimes in the studio upstairs with the help of a drum machine, and occasionally they are beamed down to a hotel room somewhere in America when there is a day off to be had on the road. Kris Ulrich is a frequent collaborator, the two have recorded a lot of music together at Kris’s home studio in Saint Boniface, as well as at Ditch Lake, which is just outside of Riding Mountain National Park. fg moved to Toronto for a while in 2019/2020, and there he met Georgia Harmer and Julian Psihogios, with whom he and Kris formed the band Dweller; they put out an EP of music in fall of 2023. In the spring of 2020, fg released his sophomore breakout EP ‘You Were’ followed by several collections of music throughout the pandemic. With touring finally being back on the table, fg was fortunate to support some heroes and new friends including Leif Vollebekk, Bahamas, SYML, Penny & Sparrow, and Wild Rivers on tour in Canada, the US, and Europe. In the spring of 2023, Field Guide embarked on his first North American headline tour, which included 36 shows in Canada and the US.

Over the past year, fg has been busy working on his upcoming album ‘Rootin for Ya’. This album feels a little different than past efforts. Several of the songs were recorded entirely by fg at home with no collaborators, and though every Field Guide record has been recorded at least partly in solitude, this was new territory. These songs were built from the ground up with drum machines, janky 80s Yamaha synthesizers, and bourbon-steeped vocals; their creation was a practice in trusting your gut, immersing yourself deeply in your own taste, and an understanding that limitations can often result in something special.
