Check out our lovely downtown scene in our coastal city of Fort Bragg! This historic district is the home of many small businesses. Adding to its beauty are the increasing number of unique and gorgeous murals created by a thriving community of artists. Nearby across Main Street is our still active heritage-railroad train station (aka Skunk Train) and the Historic Union Lumber Company Store Building (converted into a mall).

Other than feature films, independent films, and TV shows, Mendocino County is also featured in documentaries! The most recent is “Ice on Fire”(2019) which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to a standing ovation this year.

Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, the doc focuses on the never-before-seen solutions in mitigating the environmental crisis and offers hope to stave off the effects of climate change. Amount the places that the film visits is our Usal Forest, managed by the nonprofit Redwood Forest Foundation. Their projects highlight sustainable forestry, forest restoration, and creating biochar that puts CO2 back into the soil.

“Ice On Fire” also made its premiere debut on HBO earlier this month.

Looking for a small coastal farm for your story? The Wavelength Farm in Point Arena might have what you need! This 100-acre farm has a gorgeous landscape of pastures and crop land, accompanied with 10 miles of wilderness. Cattle and chickens roam the property. There’s gardens, a greenhouse, and a yurt.

Nearby is Manchester State Park with plenty of hiking trails and the Point Arena Lighthouse.
