“Giving Up in Little Ways” by Maya Elise is the perfect driving song if there ever was one. Contrary to what the title suggests, this song is less about acquiescing in the face of existential futility and more about driving around in a van with your best friends, being awesome, and playing music to a handful of strangers.
It grooves. It clunks. It glides. It wiggles into your ears and doesn’t leave until you listen to “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers.
We have Maya on vocals and rhythm guitars, M'Gilvry Allen on fiddle, vocal chops, van sounds, and probably some other stuff, Jordan Lowe on bass, Scott Elliott Ferreter on slide electric, and me on drums, percussion, and synth drone.
