Each year that 97116 has had an in-person show, we've tried to choose a local non-profit focused on direct community support to give a small donation to, after our artists are paid and show costs are covered. This year, we selected PIRC - Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition. It's a bit of a misnomer, as they serve all of Oregon and have been instrumental in helping local families through "direct assistance, education, legal support, advocacy, and community organizing." Their workload is currently off the charts.
Given the success of this year's show, we were able to give our biggest donation yet - yesterday we submitted $1000 to their website, and we know it will immediately go to good use. Thank you for all those who participated, purchased artwork, showed up, and spread the word. Thank you for being part of our labor of love. This wouldn’t exist without YOU!
