Our Executive Director Kathy Michalak accepted the award from Bank of America’s Inland Empire Market President Al Arguello. Habitat for Humanity Riverside thanks Bank of America and is proud to have a partner like them who believes in us, and that everybody deserves a safe, decent, and affordable place to live.
Center Stage Theater is currently running a very entertaining production of “All Shook Up,” which the program says, is “Inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley”. I was there on the evening of October 12th and I was impressed and entertained by the excellent production which features direction and choreography by Maureen Russell, musical direction by Ronda Rubio, costumes by Jennifer and Tammy Vigiletti, lighting design by Mike Hogan, lighting tech Lauren Jimenez, and audio by Chris Book/Chris March. Producers Todd and Jennifer Vigiletti have put together another program that makes good use of the facility in Fontana.
The audience that evening found the program to be very entertaining, appreciating the collection of Elvis Presley songs, as well as the story, which can sound familiar because of its similarity to so many of the movies made by the pop star and so popular at the box office. In fact, after the performance I was chatting with some friends who I had been very pleased to find in the audience that night and my pal John Lynd proclaimed that the evening had been “just like watching an Elvis Presley movie on the stage and I readily agreed with him. Throughout the performance members of the audience were loudly applauding, cheering, and whistling to show their approval of what was taking place on the stage as well as occasionally in their midst and a number stood to give their standing ovation during the curtain call at the end of the performance. Many audience members stayed in the lobby afterwards to praise, take pictures, and chat with their particular favorite members of the cast.
I enjoyed the very talented group of actors, singers, and dancers that had been brought together for this show. The main characters were portrayed by some especially strong performers: Renna Nightingale, (Natalie Halley), Jordan Killion (Chad), Dominique Kent (Sylvia), Sandra Rice (Miss Sandra), Julie Kirkpatrick (Mayor Matilda Hyde), Logan Dawson (Dean Hyde), and Darin Grebel (Sheriff Earl). This group was well supported by the following: Kristina Leopoldo Jarvis (Lorraine), Thomas Fisk (Dennis), Imani Jacob (Henrietta/Ensemble), and Jason W. Webb (Jim Haller). The rest of the Ensemble provided an able base for the singing and dancing that took place throughout the performance: Christianne Holly Santiago, Rachel Woodruff, Chloe Lovato, Carly McLauren, Lenessa Age, Jabriel Shelton, Adam Granados, Alan Castaneda, Justin Dale Roe, Jonathan Armijo, and Justin Plunkett. The cast members were enjoying themselves along with the audience and the enthusiasm of each group fed that of the other. Clearly, a good time was being had by all.
If you find such live entertainment enjoyable, there is still time to see “All Shook Up”. Clearly, having fun was contagious for everybody the evening that I was there. There will be three more performances before the close next Sunday. They will be Friday October 25th at 7:30pm, Saturday the 26th at 7pm and Sunday the 27th at 2pm. When I consulted Center Stage Theater’s website last night (www.centerstagefontana.com), it contained a notice that the Saturday and Sunday performances had a limited availability of tickets, so they recommended purchasing tickets for those nights by calling the box office at (909) 429-7469. Friday night tickets are apparently available either from the website or by phone.
Still time to see “All Shook Up” Great show! Fabulous Cast!! Don’t miss it!
