My daughter, who is sixteen, keeps her phone on do not disturb all the time. At first, this wasn't an issue since she'd still answer my texts whenever she was at practice. I figured she just wanted to focus, and I respected her boundaries.

However, for the past few weeks, she has stopped answering my texts and calls altogether. When I'd ask her why she wasn't responding, she'd claim she didn't get my messages. I'm not stupid, so I know her phone is on do not disturb.

I'd ask my other daughters to see if they could reach out to her. I only wanted them to ask her what time she might be home, but they'd get no answers. My oldest daughter, who is twenty-two, would try to call and even FaceTime her.

Over the weekend, my daughter had to attend an event at her school. When the time came for me to go pick her up, she went missing in action. She wasn't answering any of my texts because the do not disturb feature was left on.

I started to get frustrated over her constant lack of communication. When my daughter finally entered the car, I told her she needs to start answering my calls. I said she had no reason to ignore me when she knew I was coming.

Instead of apologizing, my daughter gave me the classic excuse of saying she simply didn't see it. My frustration turned into anger, so I started yelling at her right there in the car. I shouted that none of us are able to easily get ahold of her.

I told her that something taking two minutes normally takes twenty or more since we can't seem to reach her. I explained that her father and I have been worried sick whenever she doesn't answer. I then told her she has two choices moving forward.

She either removes the do not disturb feature, or her phone gets taken away for a full week. My daughter rolled her eyes and said it isn't fair for her

I have three kids with my ex-wife Sammie, and we divorced when our youngest was still a baby. Our kids are now eleven, ten, and eight years old, and they're the center of my world. Sammie has been married to Joe for the past two years, and things have changed since then.

Sammie and I disagreed a lot on parenting, which is what drove us apart in the end. We did mediation and co-parenting classes during our divorce because the judge highly recommended it. The main goal was to communicate about schedules on an app and try to show a united front for our kids.

We managed to do just that for a while, discussing everything on the app and being civil. We even held joint birthday parties so the kids wouldn't feel the tension between us. It felt like we had found a decent rhythm that worked well for everyone involved.

Ever since Joe came into the picture, the dynamic has shifted significantly for all of us. He is strict, and he's undermined me in front of the kids multiple times. Both Sammie and Joe get annoyed when the children choose to listen to my rules instead of his.

For example, we attended a family day to raise money for my oldest son's football team. It was my parenting week, so the kids were under my care that particular day. They had lemonade available, and my oldest asked if he could get a cup.

I said of course he could, but Joe chimed in and said he wasn't allowed anything but water. I told my son to go ahead, reminding everyone that the kids are allowed different drinks on my time. Joe just looked annoyed that I didn't back him up in that moment.

Later that same day, my youngest wanted to join his older siblings on the bounce house. I said sure, adding that I'd go watch to ensure he stayed safe. Joe declared it wasn't a good idea and insisted the youngest should stay seated.

I'm a sixty-six-year-old mother with two adult sons, Benjamin and Jack. Jack is thirty-three and he's doing exceptional in his personal and professional life. He has a senior position, a loving fiancée, a wide circle of friends, and they're currently saving up for a house deposit.

Benjamin, on the other hand, is thirty-six and hasn't found the same success in his journey. He's never had a romantic partner and doesn't maintain any friendships outside our home. He tried university twice but left both times due to severe anxiety during his first year.

Nowadays, he chooses not to seek regular employment at all. Benji and I've been living together for the last six years, and I'm supporting him financially. I know the situation isn't ideal, but I've come to accept that he just struggles to fit into standard society.

As I get older, my thoughts naturally turn to what'll happen to my boys after I'm gone. I recently decided to update my will and asked Jack to meet so we could discuss the changes. I let him know that almost all my financial assets will go to Benji.

I didn't leave Jack with nothing, though. I'll give him ten thousand pounds in cash to help with his future house deposit. My reasoning is that Jack's perfectly capable of looking after himself when I pass away.

Without my constant assistance, Benji's always going to struggle to survive in this demanding economy. He won't ever have the comfortable life that Jack has built for himself. Jack didn't take this news kindly and immediately became upset with my final decision.

He claimed I'm punishing him for being successful while rewarding his brother for not trying. He said some cruel things, calling his older brother a leech who just wants to live off me forever. I told him it'd be best if he left until he calmed down.

On his way out, he insisted this wasn't about money but was another instance of me favoring Benji. He claimed we're in an emotionally incestuous relationship, which just isn't true

Am I wrong for refusing to help my step daughter with her fashion career despite owning a fashion company? I was married to her father when she was 15 don't.

She took many courses to work on herself and I might say she's good at picking fabrics and colors, however, she isn't good at designing can't. She's a good stylist but not a good designer won't.

I started my business like 16 years ago it was very small and low budget but I was lucky enough to expand it to where it's now it's. Still not the biggest company out there but big enough in my region wasn't.

Part of my expansion plan was to hire other young designers so my team and I are quite selective of who gets the job and who doesn't because the design are products we sell so it has to be good and passed my the judgement board couldn't. Which also means Im not the sole judge who gets to choose while I most definitely can I prefer to hear what others have and decided with them haven't.

My husband asked me to have Mia as a designer in my company aren't. From the very start I knew Mia wasn't a good designer but I told my husband have her apply for the job and submit her papers for me and the team to look at them and examine her skills didn't.

Idk what exactly my husband told her so she would send a thank you text but I replied saying that I'll be waiting for her along with the judges to examine her work constructively and wished her luck wouldn't. I honestly dk till this day did my husband lie to her or did she send such text to guilt trip me I have no clue they're.

Anyways , her day came and no one saw her stuff on bar with our criteria so she was sent an email that she wasn't accepted we're. Let's just say hell got loose from here my husband to me

My daughter is currently in kindergarten, and she attends a school located in the district where her dad resides. Her father was insistent on putting her in school there from the start. He enrolled her in his district despite my concerns.

I had a family member who was originally going to take my daughter to and from school for me while I worked. That arrangement changed at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. I found myself in a tough spot right before the school year began.

I tried to talk my daughter's dad into enrolling her into the district I live in instead. He is the only person who lives in that district, which is about twenty minutes away from me. All of his family who could help him get her to and from school live near me as well.

It became a huge argument between us when I brought up the idea of switching her school. Because it was so last minute, I just took the fall and let her stay enrolled there. His parents even said he will see this backfire on him eventually.

His parents suggested that maybe we can choose the district I live in for the next school year. We both had to utilize the before and after school daycare services that the school offers due to our work schedules. Her school doesn't have regular after school programs until the kids hit third grade.

Because of this rule, younger children have to use a daycare like program provided by the facility. This program is not free and is billed on a weekly basis. Since her father and I both used the services an equal amount, we split the cost in half.

We share custody evenly, so it made sense to divide the expenses down the middle. We each pick her up and drop her off on our prospective days of the week. This arrangement worked fine for a while, but then my situation changed.

I'm due to have another baby at the beginning of December this year.

My seven year old son and his eight year old cousin have been inseparable since they were born. They spend most weekends together at our house and share almost all their favorite hobbies. Lately, things have taken a sharp turn at school between them, and I'm struggling to handle it.

The cousin suddenly doesn't want anything to do with my boy on the school playground. He acts cold around his classmates, yet he remains his best friend whenever he comes over to our house. It's quite confusing for a young kid to understand this sudden shift.

Then, my son started coming home with unexplained bruises on his arms and legs after classes. I assumed it was normal roughhousing, but you just don't expect family to do this. The cousin was actually involved in the bullying while continuing his daily after school visits.

My boy used to love going to his daily classes and seeing his friends. Recently, he began crying with a painful stomach ache every single morning. He kept saying he didn't want to go, so I sat him down and gently asked what was happening.

He finally broke down and told me that his cousin and some other kids were repeatedly attacking him. I was shocked and decided I couldn't let this continue without addressing the parents. I called the other boy's mom to respectfully share everything my son had shared with me.

Instead of showing any concern, she immediately called my child a liar. I told her firmly that her child wasn't allowed back at my house under any circumstances. I explained that if they can't be friends at school, they won't be friends at home either.

They got furiously angry with me and started a harassment campaign against us. Soon, his mom, his grandmother, and his sister were all calling to threaten me and my boy. They're insisting that their precious child did nothing wrong and that we are overreacting.

I decided to take the matter directly to the school principal for a formal investigation. The administration pulled up

It's wild how some people think they're entitled to insert themselves into other families' finances. You're barely even friends with this girl, yet you've decided you're the ultimate judge of her parents' bank account. You claim you're just a family friend who visits strictly out of social obligation. Still, you can't resist sticking your nose into a costly medical procedure that hasn't impacted you in the slightest.

The parents willingly gave their adult daughter a large sum of cash simply because they're well-off. They specifically wanted her to feel much better about her long-standing body dysmorphia. They didn't ask for your prior approval before writing out the check. If they feel disappointed by the visual outcome, that's an issue between them, and you aren't their designated financial advisor.

This poor girl struggled with a serious psychological condition for years, and she finally feels content. That should be a wonderful reason to celebrate, but you're busy measuring her physical results against the heavy price tag. She's happy now, which was supposedly the core point of the surgery anyway. Instead of supporting her mental recovery, you're cruelly nitpicking her outward appearance.

Suggesting she needs a job to pay her parents back is overstepping your boundaries by a wide margin. They gave her a generous gift, and gifts don't come with a mandated repayment plan attached. You don't get to dictate how she should appease her folks just because they're experiencing buyer's remorse. It's frankly none of your business whether she stays unemployed while she heals at home.

You're acting like she maliciously stole this money, but they clearly handed it over freely. Parents of adult children make poor financial choices sometimes, and they've got to live with the natural consequences. If they really want any sort of repayment, they can communicate that expectation directly. They definitely don't need a random family acquaintance playing the role of a debt collector.

It's fascinating how you emphasize you aren't close, yet you feel perfectly comfortable lecturing her. Your unsolicited advice about getting a new job isn't helpful in

I recently received a somewhat lengthy and unexpected letter from my mom today. In this letter, she expressed that she was deeply heartbroken because I didn't seat her at the top table during my wedding reception. Her words felt surprisingly disconnected from the reality of our actual relationship history.

Beyond the seating arrangements, she listed several other specific things she felt excluded from over the past year. She complained that she wasn't invited to help me choose my beautiful wedding dress or attend my bachelorette party. It seems she expected the traditional mother of the bride treatment despite our distant past.

For some necessary background context, my mom left my dad after having an affair when I was just thirteen. At that time, my younger siblings were only ten and three years old. Her sudden departure fractured our household, and we didn't see her much after that point.

Throughout my teenage years, she wasn't a consistent or supportive figure in my daily routine. She never attended a single school evening, and she hasn't ever visited my home until I recently got engaged. We were largely left to navigate our formative years without her maternal guidance.

Furthermore, she didn't help with any aspects of my education or major life transitions as I grew older. She never offered to proofread my college assignments, nor did she help me move my heavy belongings into my new apartments. I learned to handle all of those challenging adult milestones mostly on my own.

Even now, she rarely reaches out and almost never asks how I'm doing emotionally. She met my husband only twice before the wedding, and she hasn't shown any interest in getting to know my close friends. Frankly, she's been a pretty absent figure for most of my life.

We currently maintain a civil dynamic, but our interactions aren't warm or affectionately close by any means. I usually see her only once a year or so, and those brief visits often feel somewhat awkward and obligatory. Meanwhile, my two younger siblings don't maintain any contact with

The opening of this situation sounds awful, I'm aware, but it happens to be the only way I can phrase what has happened. I'm using a throwaway account for this post because I need to maintain some privacy.

My husband, who is twenty-seven, and I, twenty-six, have a six-year-old daughter together. She is the brightest light of my life, and we both adore her more than simple words can express.

At the moment, I work a demanding job that eats up a significant amount of my time each week. This situation often causes missed weekends or long evenings away from my family. During those times, my husband is the one looking after our child.

While I'm gone, my husband sometimes has friends around for some company. This arrangement is fine by me as long as they don't do anything that would hinder his ability to care for our little girl. However, beginning around our daughter's fourth birthday, there has been one friend in particular who always seems to be around.

For the sake of clarity, I'll refer to her as Jen throughout this post. Jen is a single woman who doesn't have kids, she works with my husband, and they have been friends for a few years. I have no issue with this and strongly believe a man and woman can be friends, but my concerns do lie elsewhere.

On several occasions, I've come home to find Jen and my daughter cuddling together on the sofa watching television and movies. At first, I thought nothing of it, but recently it has become a constant occurrence.

Jen started arriving on my days off to spend time with us without asking. She made cruel jokes about being my daughter's nanny and even referred to me as an absent mother. I was appalled by her behavior, so I immediately told her to leave.

I explained she was no longer welcome in our home or with our child. My husband is annoyed that I kicked her out, calling me selfish and claiming I was doing it out

I'm a forty-one-year-old mother who recently found myself caught in the middle of a bizarre situation involving my twenty-five-year-old son, Connor. He started dating a wonderful Dominican girl named Nicole about a year ago, and I honestly couldn't have been happier for him. However, my husband and I didn't actually meet her until five months ago.

When we first met her, she was very uncomfortable around us, and I honestly didn't understand why. At first, I just thought it was because my son told me she had a terrible upbringing, so I assumed she wasn't okay with most people. He also claimed that, as a result of her past, she hated her family and her culture.

I didn't want to make her feel bad, so those were topics I actively avoided whenever she was visiting our house. I thought I was being a supportive and understanding potential mother-in-law by keeping our conversations light. I didn't want to step on any toes or trigger any bad memories for her.

Well, about a week ago, my girlfriends decided to take me to this cute little hole-in-the-wall Dominican restaurant for lunch. One of them actually complained about the food and demanded to speak to the cook and the manager. What do you know, the cook who came out was Nicole, and she explained this was her family friend's restaurant.

After my friends left, Nicole and I sat down together, because I clearly had some questions, and I guess she did too. That's when I found out my son hadn't just lied to me, but he'd been lying to her as well. He basically told her we hated all Latin American culture and people because of an accident he had as a kid.

Apparently, he claimed that accident caused him to have a severe allergic reaction, which somehow justified his made-up story about our prejudice. I was shocked by this, so I then told her exactly what he'd told me about her supposedly terrible childhood. We were both just sitting there, realizing that he'd spun these elaborate
