Pa-Pow! Another fantastic Soapbox in the books. I love this time of year at the Soapbox. Schools in. Locals return. The ocean breeze is a little more refreshing and people keep making s**t up and coming out to celebrate the creative and the created; and have a taco.

We welcomed as our featured artist last night. Tom’s songs are first rate and to me, they sound like he should be getting paid. He was joined on stage last night by Jeff Caldwell and the result was simply beautiful. Stunning in its elegance. Thanks, y’all.

We welcomed first time Soapboxer to the fold last night. Matt was in town from NY recording and our pal Omar sent him our way. Great songs and performance. Check him out.

I got the evening rolling and also got to close it down with a duet with fellow Hopeaholic Joan Hale, . Wesley Moore, , had a new poem he shared that was an elegy for Pat and Flower, iykyk. Thanks Wesley. was up next with an edited, family friendly set that was great. always makes the play. shared some poetry with us. Vix has a poetry album coming out soon so keep your eyes and ears on the look out. and aka The Velvet Currents were great in their farewell set as Caroline prepares to move to Spain. Greg Dunkle, , had some brand new material he shared with us that was most excellent.

Y’all keep listening and being open to receive and, as if by magic, that which needs to be heard appears. That is the basis of everything we do. Thank you. Thank you for letting it all unfold the way it should. The Soapbox is heading to ’s music festival Sol Slam in Erwin Tennessee this weekend but we will be back Monday as we welcome and as our featured artists. Now, go make s**t up.

Last night, what? Huh? Geez Louise! Did that really happen? This Soapbox was an over achiever and burned the candle on both ends, down the side and in the middle. In the vernacular of our times, this Soapbox was straight up lit. I expected greatness and received magnificence. There was Folk Music, Country and Bluegrass, Rap and Hip Hop by the truckload and just for good measure there was Spoken Word and a sound bath thrown in just for kicks. Beautiful people doing the thing that makes us happy and keeps us moving forward.

The first of our double feature, comprised of and grammy winner treated us to a set that just pasted a big ol’ silly grin across my face that’s still there at this moment. Nobody does it any better than these two songsmiths. They are good friends to the Soapbox and continue to deliver greatness every time they take the stage.

The second half of our double feature, Girl, , was simply wonderful. Starting peacefully and joined by Moochie, on native flute slowly worked her way into a tumultuous uproar that had all of the Soapbox bumpin’. Joined for the last couple of tunes by , Girl owned that stage.

We welcomed first time Soapboxer Mike Live, to the Soapbox Stage. Talk about spittin’ fire, Mike embodies everything that phrase brings to mind. Holy Smokes he brings the heat. Welcome to the fold, Mike Live.

I got the rig rolling and closed it down with my fellow Hopeaholic, Joan Hale, . The great Jesse Murray, delivered beautiful music. was up next and amazing. not only DJ’d for all the rappers, he laid down a smokin’ set of his own. Immensely entertaining. Tiggy, , always brings the heat and also a crew of artists every time. Thanks for that. .morant treated us to his Spoken Word Poetry and was accompanied by and his great guitar work.

Y’all keep making it happen. Your openness to receive and listen is our foundation. Your respect and love of the creative is beautiful to behold. Thanks for letting this all unfold the way it should Go make s**t up! See y’all Monday as we welcome as our featured artist.

Happy Birthday to the Soapbox. It’s been 4 amazing years of celebrating the creative, or as I like to say, people that make s**t up. What a beautiful thing we are are making on these Monday nights , right here on the Edge of America. Y’all have been listening and that is the key to our success. Let’s keep it up and see what this year holds. I expect greatness. An unexpected by product of this venture is the truck load of the cool friends I have made over these 4 years. Y’all rock and this Soapbox would be nothing without y’all.

Last night we welcomed the great songsmith Jay Byrd, , to the Soapbox fold. Jay was accompanied by holding it down on the bass fiddle. These guys were great and played nothing but hits.

I got this old birthday party rolling and was joined by the amazing guitarist Jeff Caldwell. Thanks for the rock n roll Jeff. Good to have you back. played and early set and made it kid friendly. .k.harmon did a solo set and brought the heat as did Mike Kaufman, . Long time buddy Brother Jim Hadley came out with banjo in hand and a foot operated percussion device that was obviously homemade and right in line with Jim’s love and respect for the ancient traditions. Welcome to the fold, Brother Jim. , my songwriting hero, served us up some of her greatness on a silver platter. Joined by Kerry on bass and Alex Goyette on keys we all had a treat as sweet as the cake Joan Hale , brought for the Soapbox birthday extravaganza. Closing us out was a super soulful set from La Tee Da, , and the Sensational Vibes. They were so good that we asked them to keep on playing till the end.

What a party! Thanks everybody. I love what we are building and it would be nothing without you who listen and receive so well. Thank you Chico Feo for letting this all unfold the way it should. Y’all are beautiful. Next Monday will be epic in its magnitude. We welcome the double feature greatness of and Arlyn, . This could be the coolest and most radically diverse Soapbox ever. I can’t wait till Monday. Go make s**t up!

Never a dull moment at the Soapbox and last night was no exception. It was an absolutely amazing amalgamation of artists and audience alike and in abundance as we gathered to wallow in the creative and celebrate them that make s**t up.

and Pinkerton and the Brink were our featured artists and they brought the heat.

Welcomed a whole host of first time Soapboxers into the fold last night. First up and all the way from South Africa, Gareth James, rocked it. We managed to squeeze in for a couple of cool tunes on the use. Dalton Massey, was great. has a serious set of pipes. And for a very special Soapbox moment we welcome Jackson Wetherbee, from the band to the Soapbox. Amazing vocals and stage presence, not to mention fan base that came out in droves to hear Jackson sing. I understand why.

I kicked the show off. Our ol’ pal Noah Grove from was back for the first time in a year and sounded better than ever as did . Welcome back y’all. delivered a stellar set. brought the punk/surf vibe and Terry Hayes, did what he is becoming famous for doing, playing nearly inappropriate and insanely funny songs on his uke.

What a night. Y’all are making it happen by your openness to receive and willingness to really listen and nourish these artists. Thanks for letting this all unfold the way it should. Next week is the Soapbox’s 4th birthday and we celebrate with a double feature of from and . Pa-pow!! It’s on. Go make s**t up.

You can’t keep a good Soapbox down. Government shutdowns, severe weather, and impending doom could not stop this Soapbox. By sheer will and a little bit of reckless abandon thrown in for good measure, we endeavored to persevere and triumphed in the face of adversity. We had a wonderful night of celebrating the creative and, of course, people who make s**t up.

Bailey Bigger, , was our featured artist last night. Bailey is the real deal. Great songs and beautiful delivery. We are lucky to have Bailey as part of our scene. Bailey was accompanied by guitarist Matt Hamrick who added some tasty chops and cool harmony. Keep your eyes open for Bailey’s new record that’s coming out this October and in the meantime, stream her existing music.

We welcomed first time Soapboxers Bill Lee and Caroline Rhea into to the fold last night. Good to have y’all in the fold and great job. Also, and I didn’t get his last name, Tyler who is apparently a beat box phenom showed us what that’s all about and it was pretty much mind boggling.

I kicked the night off as I’m known to do. The fantastic Jesse Murray, , stepped up to the plate and knocked one right out of the park. 2/3 of Fender Bender, Ana Wagner and Ben, came out and treated us to some Bluegrass instrumentals. Jerry Lee Gilchrist rocked it and was also joined by Matt Hamrick for a couple of tunes. Caroline and Grace of closed us down in fine fashion.

Thanks to everybody that helped power the Folly Bubble last night. Y’all made this happen. Thanks for believing and being open to the magic of the creative. Thanks for letting this all unfold the way it should. Go make s**t up and we’ll see you Monday.

Holy Smoky Goodness! Last night’s Soapbox was unbelievable from beginning to end. In my mind, it was everything a Soapbox should. Musical diversity on parade. We had R&B Soul, Folk , Rock n Roll, Poetry and boy, oh boy did we have us some Rap. Everybody lit it up. And everybody was there. It was the biggest audience that I’ve ever seen at Chico Feo. There may have been bigger, but I wasn’t there.

I can’t say enough good things about our featured act . These guys are all class. Completely pro, easy going and cool as hell not to mention they straight up rock. These guys just played a sold out show at the Windjammer this past Saturday. I’m talking outside at the Jammer, which is huge, and here they are on a Monday playing our little open showcase Soapbox for their fans. Cool as hell and you, the audience is responsible because you listen and are open to receive this art. Magical. Thanks guys.

We welcomed first time Soapboxer, Nashvillian Legit Smitty into the fold. Good to have you with us.

La Tee Da, , accompanied by Zach Miles bought her soulful music back to the Soapbox and was wonderful. Jesse Murray, took the first spin on my new guitar and was and is great. represented our poets really well. .k.harmon played a solo set and rocked it. And our rappers came out in force. , and all brought their A game and had the crowd bumpin’.

Y’all are doing it. Being open to receive is this soapbox’s foundation and listening is our currency. Thanks for that. Y’all make me feel better about everything. Thanks for letting this all unfold the way it should. Join us Monday as we welcome as our feature. Bailey is the real deal. Go make s**t up!
