Sierra joins us from the foothills of North Georgia for this year’s Biennial.

Jenny Abrams | Charlottesville, Virginia
A plein air painter working primarily in oil and gouache, Jenny is inspired by the light, color, and landscapes of Virginia and North Carolina.

Natalia Andreeva | Tallahassee, Florida
Natalia blends classical realism with spontaneous expression, creating vibrant landscapes, still lifes, figures, and portraits.

Looking for a creative after-school activity this fall? Our After School Art Series gives young artists the chance to create, experiment, and explore a new project each week!

If you've been thinking about taking this class, now is your sign! đź’™ A few spots are still available for this weekend's Indigo Shibori Dyeing workshop with Jennifer A. Reis.

đź’™ Indigo Shibori Dyeing with Jennifer A. Reis
Saturday, August 29 | 1–4 PM | Ages 16–Adult | $100 (+ $25 materials fee)

Experience the magic of natural indigo dyeing! Learn how to prepare an indigo dye vat and experiment with binding, stitching, clamping, and other traditional shibori techniques to create beautiful patterns. Each participant will dye one silk scarf, four napkins, and one tea towel, with the option to bring additional white or cream cotton or silk items from home.

Jennifer is an accomplished textile artist and educator whose work includes an Indigo Shibori line of art-to-wear and home goods. She has taught at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, John C. Campbell Folk School, Cleveland Institute of Art, and the Society for Contemporary Craft. She currently serves as a professor at UNC Greensboro.

Calling all regional artists! The deadline is almost here for the 2026 New Works exhibition at the Floyd Center for the Arts.

Show us what's new in your studio! New Works is our annual juried exhibition celebrating fresh work, new ideas, and the evolving creative practices of artists across our region.

Applications are due Friday, August 28!

Open to artists ages 18+ within a 150-mile radius of the Floyd Center for the Arts. All visual media are welcome, and artists may submit up to three works completed within the past two years.

Exhibition Dates: October 3 – November 21, 2026
Entry Fee: $25
Awards: First $200 | Second $150 | Third $100 | People's Choice $50

Join us Wednesday, September 2 at 5:30 PM for a special lecture, Woven Legacies: Stories, Traditions, and the Material Culture of Appalachian Overshot Coverlets, presented by Ashley Webb.

Discover the rich Appalachian tradition of geometric woven coverlets and the creativity, skill, and labor that went into creating them. Highlighting historic coverlets from the Old Church Gallery featured in Strings Attached: The Enduring Appeal of Overshot Coverlets, Ashley will explore how patterns, techniques, and the objects themselves reveal stories of family, community, identity, and Appalachian heritage.

Ashley Webb is the Executive Director and Curator of Collections and Exhibitions for the Historical Society of Western Virginia, which operates the Roanoke History Museum and O. Winston Link Museum. Her specialty is fashion history, and in 2026 she was appointed to the Virginia Commission for the Arts as the Region 6 Commissioner.
