HAWTHORNE FAMILY MURDERED: An intruder armed with a knife broke into Flower Mound’s Hawthorne Manor Halloween night and murdered Lord Archibald and Lady Edith Hawthorne and three of their four children. According to the Denton County Sheriff’s office, an unidentified intruder entered the home through a ground floor window and proceeded to the parlor. The intruder repeatedly stabbed and slashed th

e couple before proceeding to the children's bedrooms, where they were murdered in their beds as they slept. It is believed that she witnessed the murder of her three older brothers. The intruder has not been caught at this time. Abigail has been placed in the care of the State and Hawthorne Manor has been abandoned. Residents are asked to stay away from the Manor until it can be demolished on December 15th.

Well, our eight year run is over. The haunted house has been sold. Thank you to the Town of Ballinger, Texas and officer Suzanne Torres. Hawthorne Manor Cemetery will have a new home and I believe it is in very good hands. They put on a great event for their Town and I can’t wait to visit them this Halloween.

It was a record-setting event this year, despite the local high school football game and all the rain. Over three nights, 867 guests contributed $430 cash and 533 food items to our charity of choice, Metrocrest Services. So, we just woke up, but wanted to thank everyone for coming last night. We even had a few after-hours visitors who really seemed to have a spooky great time. A special thanks to the Saffle family and their "mobile Halloween party". You were a lot of FUN! The last scare of the night goes to the guy in the lifted 4x4 who honked to us while leaving. We all jumped and laughed. We had almost 400 guests last night that contributed two large overflowing boxes of food and a whopping $365 for charity! As my brother is dragging the heavy boxes of food to the house (hey, he asked what he could do), I'm counting the money in the driveway with everyone's eyes getting bigger with each $20 bill I find. Wow! A couple days of rest, catching up on work, chores, bills, and TV shows, and we'll be open Halloween night, weather permitting (skeleton fingers crossed).

What is Hawthorne Manor Haunted House? It started 8 years ago at our home as an activity for our kids' Halloween party and has grown into a free, family-friendly event attracting guests of all ages from Flower Mound, TX and the surrounding area. Our front yard is transformed into an eerie cemetery and our garage is tranformed into a 12 room walk-through haunted house with 17 home-made and unique animatronic characters.
