A note from Stephen Chamineak, the director of Unsinkable Women:
Do you remember when grocery stores had movie rentals? Mom and Dad would take me on a grocery run and if I was good I could rent, or even better BUY a movie. Now picture it. 1997. I am six years old and Dad takes me to Dierbergs and there is a big display for a brand new movie. TITANIC. The 2 vhs set version, you remember it? Watching that movie unlocked a life long obsession with that ship of dreams. What drew me to the story were the true stories, of the true people who were there on that ship April 1912. Now, I am no longer a six year old checking out every titanic book from the library, but a 35 year old man with not one but TWO Titanic tattoos. This passion has led me to direct a wonderful little show called “ Unsinkable Women: stories and songs from the Titanic” this show brings us the stories of 9 women who survived the sinking and used their grief to go on and do amazing things. I have the most remarkable cast filled with some of the most talented women in St. Louis. If you are not doing anything Friday, August 14 at 7:30 or August 15 at 2pm head on down to the Florissant Performing Arts Center. Six year old Stephen would love to see you there.
