If you’ve ever wondered whether there’s still a place for you in community theater in Florence, this is me saying yes!
Earlier this year, the membership of Last Resort Players elected a new Board of Directors. Now we’re focused on what comes next. Not rushing. Not pretending the last few years didn’t happen. Just doing the very community-theater thing of gathering people, figuring it out together, and building something that can last!
As we move forward, we’re centering community-first theater, shared responsibility, and participation over perfection. If you’ve ever thought “I’m rusty,” “I don’t know enough,” or “I’d rather help than be onstage,” good news! Showing up counts, curiosity counts, and caring counts.
Right now, we’re inviting people to join or renew a membership, get involved with committees or working groups, share ideas for shows or community events, or simply reach out and say hello! If you’ve been away for a while, that’s okay. If you’re new, that’s okay. There’s room for you here!
And if we haven’t met yet, I’m Jennifer Ledbetter. My first onstage role was Brighetta in The Sound of Music through my high school theater program in the early 2000s, produced with support from Last Resort Players and performed at the Florence Events Center. Years later, after moving back to Florence, my daughter had her first community theater experience here too, at age seven, performing in Annie. I’ve spent time both onstage and behind the scenes over the years, and I also work professionally in nonprofit leadership. Stepping into this role comes from both personal history and a real commitment to rebuilding something that matters.
More soon. For now…
so long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye!
Jennifer Ledbetter
