In a world of hurts and stresses let’s love one another, find joy and be kind. You never know the difference you can make in a person’s day just with a brief exchange of friendly words!

Today marks the 106th year of my beautiful grandma Hazel’s birth; the very one I named my happy little golf cart after! She and my grandpa represented LOVE in my life, so I wanted to share what the meaning of Unconditional Love is, according to google:

Unconditional love is a deep, selfless affection and care given to someone without any rules, limits, or expectations of getting anything back. It means you accept a person completely for who they are, regardless of their mistakes or behavior.

In other words, LOVE no matter what!

I hope you feel seen and loved today and can pay forward that feeling! 🤗❤️👋

In memory of Derrick Bell, 1988-2026

Today, Hazel and I prayerfully drove through the streets and cart trails of Anthem Merrill Ranch in Florence, AZ, to pay tribute to my son’s best friend, Derrick from Iowa, who unexpectedly passed away last week at the age of 39 from a ruptured aortic aneurysm.

While I never met him personally, I came to know him through the stories my son, Jeremy would tell, describing Derrick as LOYAL, STOIC and GENUINE.

Rather than focusing on the tragic way he died, my hope is that I was able to honor who he was in life by sharing joyful greetings, kindnesses and a few beautiful orange flowers tied with a tag of remembrance to some of our neighbors we met while we were out and about.

Reading the words from his touching obituary, lovingly written by his sister, I learned that Derrick will be remembered as one of those unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime, great and true friends, to not just my son, but to everyone he knew.

I also learned that Derrick embraced life with enthusiasm and ADVENTURE. He is described as being passionate about music, and technology, eager to learn, intelligent, funny, and endlessly kind, with a way of making ordinary moments unforgettable.

The legacy of love that Derrick has left behind should remind us all to make the dash line between our own birth dates and the date of our death count for something greater than ourselves.

I will continue to pray for the Lord to comfort Derrick’s family and friends in ways that only our Father in Heaven can when our hearts are so horribly shattered.

Thank you to Derrick for being such a great friend to my son and his entire family. Thank you to Derrick’s family for allowing me to share who he was in LIFE.

As he was laid to rest today, I hope I have helped to honor his memory and remind his family and friends just how much his life mattered, and what a difference one person can make.

He will never be forgotten.
