This past weekend, Spotlight completed filming our first original comedy short, Handboots!

We had an amazing time bringing this project to life, and we’re incredibly thankful to our cast and crew for all their hard work, talent, and enthusiasm throughout the shoot. There were plenty of laughs both on and off camera, and everyone had a great time.

We’re excited to see the finished film and can’t wait to share it with all of you!

🎬 DIRECTOR SEARCH – FEATURE FILMS + SHORT FORM COMEDY (Jacksonville Area)

We are currently seeking a director for upcoming narrative film projects based in the Jacksonville, FL area.

Our primary focus is two planned feature-length films scheduled for July/August production. The first is a romantic comedy expected to shoot over approximately 26–28 days across multiple locations.

In the lead-up to the features, we are also producing a series of short-form comedy projects as smaller-scale productions to help establish workflow, build the team, and develop creative chemistry.

Each short project is planned as:
• 1 rehearsal day
• 1 shoot day

Current short-form production windows:
• End of May
• Mid June
• End of June

We are looking for someone collaborative, creative, reliable, and comfortable working in an indie production environment with a small but motivated team.

Jacksonville locals are preferred, though we are open to out-of-town applicants as well.

Shoot dates:
May 29–30
June 12–13

We don’t have specific “types” in mind — open to all ages, looks, and experience levels.

Mostly looking for people who are comfortable on camera, reliable, and down to collaborate on some fun, character-driven scenes.
Comedy experience is a plus.

Paid work.
Good opportunity to get some footage and be part of something creative.

Seeking a small, experienced crew for a narrative romantic comedy shooting in the Jacksonville, FL area. Lean production—looking for self-sufficient crew who can own their role.

POSITIONS:

Director of Photography (DP) – Narrative experience required; vertical format experience is a plus. Own camera package preferred.
Rate: $250–$400/day

Production Sound Mixer – Must have own gear and dialogue experience.
Rate: $150–$250/day

Gaffer (Lighting Lead) – Able to handle lighting setups independently. Own kit preferred.
Rate: $150–$250/day

Production Assistant (PA) – General on-set support.
Rate: $100–$150/day
