🎨 TAG Artist Spotlight: Tom Yazzie β€” Jewelry Artist

Tom is a Navajo artist who blends traditional silversmithing techniques with a contemporary twist. His designs pair hand-cut gemstones and raw minerals with metal work that is both uncomplicated and multifaceted.

What makes Tom's path really special? He started with a degree in classical guitar from NAU, then went back for a fine arts degree in metalsmithing, and is now working on a third degree in sculpture. That dedication to his craft shows in every piece he creates.

Stop in and see his beautiful work in person.

Day 4!
Today's journey took me from Oklahoma City to Springfield, Missouri! (I'm almost there!) I stopped just outside of Tulsa at Keystone State Park, which is a place I *thought* I had never been to before. When i got there, memories started flooding back. It's a long story, but some of those memories can still make me cry.
I wanted to make a painting to share the feelings, and a tonalist painting, created through a method of "subtractive painting" was just the way to do it.
How'd i do? Does it feel like old memories to you?
