PODCAST AND MORE ON THE BAND TO COME -->
Alaskan band The Jephries will be in Flagstaff on Wednesday, April 6th for their debut performance at MonteVista CocktailLounge!
This Anchorage-based trio is seven months into a nine month tour, and believes their success rests on an eclectic set of individual influences. Their collective efforts have been described as rock, folk, psychedelic, punk -- even as doom jazz.
The Brothers Jephrie formed in February, 2013, in Anchorage, AK. The band almost immediately started touring their home state. They released a demo that March of what they called "gangster folk", but after the first year of touring and writing together they found an entirely new chemistry. in the release of their debut album. “Park Human” was given to the public in August 2015.
It was on the back of Park Human that they decided to venture "outside" -- an Alaskan term for anything outside of AK, especially the lower 48. They are completely independent with no labels or backers other than fans, so this was a leap of faith.
"We thought, either it makes us or it breaks us," says Jason Jephrie.
"And the determination that put us on the road in the first place is still there -- all we want to do is keep rockin and rollin into the next town,” Logan Jephrie adds.
Including tours in their home state and this tour, The Jephries have easily travelled far enough to circle the globe -- at least 30,000 miles. Fortunately, interested Flagstaffans need only attend their performance at Hotel Monte Vista on April 6th for some Alaskan-bred live entertainment.
