The Openest Mic

For Openest Mic: Final Full Mooniest of 2026 we are doing something a little different! Anyone can participate, all you have to do is write a 12 line poem about “the good ones”. You determine what that means to you and there are no other form requirements besides being no more and no less than 12 lines.

At some point during the show, we’ll have people share these poems. If you’ve wanted to do ✨something✨ at a mic but have been daunted, this can be a good way to tip your toes in.

Kate did some heartfelt originals then busted out her translated poems in German! 🌸Jasmin spoke truth to power, honoring her Puerto Rican roots in one of the first and few fully bilingual art museums in America. 🎙️To close out, Paul gave us a slice of life and some solid advice: if you’re debating between the pole and the pen, well, you’d be surprised at which path he tells you to take 🤭🤭

Thank you so much to Fitchburg Art Museum for this collaboration. Being able to celebrate the museums hundredth birthday by spending so much time there has been wonderful. Can’t wait to see what the future holds! 🌸🎙️

Due to weather concerns for tomorrow, Fitchburg Art Museum has graciously invited us inside for tomorrow’s event! Join us at 5:45-6:45 on Thursday to listen to the poetry of Jasmin Rivas, Kate Gregoire, and Paul Szlosek while surrounded by the fascinating work of the winner of the 2025 89th Regional Exhibition of Art & Craft, James Dye.

Check out this artist talk so when you’re looking around, you can more easily see the intent of the artist and build on his themes with your interpretation.
