I am so honored to have had the opportunity to work with Felege Hiywot Center and KIPP Indy Public Schools and the amazing youth of Martindale Brightwood to produce The Sound of Love. A unique story that expressed what they believe could be a solution to crime in our communities. You know, it's amazing what you hear when you listen to young people. Their perspectives are so valuable when it comes to solving issues that affect all of us. It takes all of us - young and seasoned to make an impact. I'm so grateful that for the past two decades I've had the opportunity to work with young people. I started when I was just 23 myself. I was a new graduate and a new mom and I asked God if I could work with helping kids and He answered! I asked Him to teach me how to make movies because I couldn't afford film school and He answered! He taught me a special way to tell stories with community and for community.
And now in this new season I'll be teaching others how to use stories to bridge the connection to communities locally and globally. So stay tuned!

We celebrated 22 years of marriage this weekend Dija and Darye style. We started out by voting early and then headed to Chi-town. Something that is important to us is to support each other’s big dreams so Darye Henry encouraged me to take another class at second city. Then we hit up a comedy show and were asked how we made it 22 years. What?! Are we that couple now? Lol! My father told me make sure your life goals line up with each other and always have a constant flow of forgiveness (definitely takes work cause I can be petty 😂)

We also spent our time talking about our growing walk with the Lord and what we want for our next phase of life as we will be empty nesters in less than two years. We plotted and planned our next business venture together and I’m so excited! It’s been 22 years but I feel like we are just getting started! Happy Anniversary to my bestest friend!

We are still seeking roles for our upcoming short film for teens called The Sound of Love now filming October 14th-October 19th.

The Sound of Love Short Film Synopsis:

In this supernatural drama for teens 17-year-old Harmony, a high schooler with a tumultuous family history, discovers her hidden Siren powers when a fight with a classmate unleashes a dangerous side of her voice. Struggling with her family’s past, including her mother’s imprisonment and her father’s mental health issues, Harmony gets caught in the web of Roman Villa, a powerful music mogul and Siren hunter, who manipulates her for his dark agenda. With the help of her music teacher, Miss Daz, her family, and friends, Harmony must confront Roman and his plan to use her voice for global control while embracing forgiveness and her true identity to save her loved ones and herself.

At the heart, this is a story about love, forgiveness and reconciliation.
