Still searching for the perfect pattern and yarn combo for our Summer Tee MAL? 🌞

Here are a few more ideas from our summery yarns, including Fior di Lino, and two other silk or silk blend yarns—silk is light and breathable, making it a luxurious and practical choice for summer making.

👚 Photo 1 is Michelle’s gorgeous WIP, the Purple Moon tee in alternating stripes of MYak Fibers Fior di Lino (a fi*****ng weight wool, baby yak, and linen blend) and ITO Yarn & Design Sensai, a feather-light mohair silk blend. You’ve got to see this one in person!

👚 Photo 2 includes some ideas we are itching to get on our needles, both made with Ito Kinu, a laceweight 100% silk noil yarn with wonderful texture and drape. Linda’s thinking of making the gossamer-light Teas top, with just a single strand of Kinu, or the classic Yume top would also be a great choice with its lace border, using Kinu held double.

What fiber do you think you’ll use for our MAL? Let us know if there are other fibers you’re considering. And come in tomorrow to see (and feel) these yarns yourself and then join us Wednesdays at 6p for the MAL!

Still looking for the perfect pattern and yarn pairing for our Summer Tee MAL? 🌞

Here are some combos using our cotton & cotton blend yarns we are planning on stitching up with you this summer—

👚 Photo 1: Mojave cotton/linen blend by Kelbourne Woolens
—Maddie is crocheting the Magnolia & Oleander Top in a lovely peach-coral-pink gradient
—Linda is knitting the clean lines of the Verba Tee in Prussian Blue

👚 Photo 2: Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm—
—Sarah has her eyes on the delicate Dorthelia Tank in, no doubt in shell pink!

👚 Photo 3: Noble Cotton by Cascade Yarns —
—Linda made the Cowl Shell years ago in a cotton/rayon blend and loves this simple, elegant tee pattern—we think it would perfectly highlight the drape and shine of the mercerized Noble Cotton, maybe even one of the color changing skeins!

What pattern/yarn pairings are you thinking about for the MAL? Stay tuned for some more ideas for our summer silks tomorrow! Cast on is Wednesday!

Updated art from the fiber room!

When co-owner Maddie went to Scotland last September she stopped by the and spoke with Susan, the editor the Scottish Yarn Journal, about all things wool and handmade. Maddie was already out of suitcase room to fit an actual sheep, so the next best thing was these illustrated postcards that she knew one day she’d hang in her own yarn store. (Little did she know then how quickly that would happen! 😂)

Thanks again Susan for all your effort in gathering and sharing the amazing wool stories that Scotland has to offer. Can’t wait to visit again.

Michelle realized today that she never posted about her Cloudbreak Tee by .and.pine.designs. Sorry for the delay -- we've had a lot going on this month ;)

But, it's done, and beautiful (if I do say so myself), and hanging in the shop now. I love the shoulder shaping and the cute lace at the bottom. I did add some length (stockinette) before the lace, but otherwise knit the pattern as is.

I used Trifecta DK by in the Helios colorway. This yarn is untreated (i.e., not superwash), and has such sheen and depth of color -- a combination of the mohair and silk blended with Bluefaced Leicester and the beautiful dyeing techniques of Sweet Georgia Yarns. You can check out the lace detail and the depth of color in the second photo.

I wore it out with friends and it was so comfortable. Highly recommend both the pattern and the yarn!

Hi everyone! Sarah here with today’s Saturday Stash: Juniper Moon Farm’s Herriot Fine!

This is another one that Michelle and I discovered when we were at the yarn conference (H&H) last month. We already carry Cumulus (one of my faves!), so when we stopped by the JM booth to see our rep, I felt this and fell. In. Love.

Herriot Fine is made of extra-soft, extra-fine baby alpaca, and I want to just rub my face in it. Even though it’s a sock weight, it’s very warm due to the fact that alpaca fiber has a hollow core which adds an extra bit of insulating warmth. The yarn is also 25% nylon, which means that it is more durable than some wool-only products. You can even use it for socks! We have 10 solid colorways that give incredible stitch definition, along with a beautiful halo that will really make your projects stand out.

This yarn has a soft drape and is great for wraps, scarves, garments, and more! In fact, I’ll be doing a shawl with it myself - the Leeanne pattern in the Balsam, Dollhouse, and Jute colorways. Look for it this summer in the shop!
