My poor screen! 😭 I didn’t realize the tip was worn down or how long I’ve been using it on the metal.

šŸ–Šļø This $10 pen has been all I had for years. I’m taking this as a chance to get a new Apple Pencil Pro, with all the bells & whistles. My new one won’t be in til Saturday although I’m going to feel spoiled after all the features like barrel roll, pressure sensitivity, etc. I super excited but I hate spending money on anything. I plan leveling up my art skills with this. šŸ’ŖšŸ¼

šŸ˜… So since I can’t draw until then, please keep me entertained and let me see your artwork! Lol. šŸ–¼ļø

🤯 What! Your Private cloud isnt private?
āš ļø If you are a digital artist, designer, writer, or creator of any kind, you need to read this immediately. šŸ‘€ Google is deleting accounts and having AI search in your private data. They are deleting them and having accounts to artists wiped out overnight.

šŸ’„ This isn't a rumor. Google’s automated AI moderation systems are actively scanning private Google Drive files. If the algorithm misinterprets your hand-drawn sketches, anatomical drafts, character concepts, or story manuscripts, it doesn't just flag the file—it triggers a nuclear option. It nukes your entire Google account.

šŸ–¼ļø Artists are waking up completely locked out of their digital lives—losing years of portfolios, Gmail, business files, YouTube channels, and everything tied to their "Sign in with Google" access. And because the appeal process is run by the same broken AI, there is virtually no human customer service to fix it.

šŸ¤– The bots have zero context blindness. They can't tell the difference between a creative asset you built by hand and a policy violation. To comply with corporate liabilities, the algorithm is tuned to shoot first and ask questions never.

Take your power back right now:
* Stop using Google Drive, OneDrive, or any major cloud provider as your single source of truth.
* Move your portfolios, client work, and high-res assets onto local physical hardware (external SSDs/hard drives).
* If you must use cloud storage, look into zero-knowledge, fully encrypted services that legally cannot scan or index your private files.
Don't let an algorithm delete your hard work. Protect your art and back it up locally today!

šŸ‘€ Are they stealing our art? 🚨 Let’s talk about the Johnny Depp / Art of Elysium awards.

After signing up I’m hearing some crazy rumors.
I’ve been hearing two big red flags:

šŸ’° Pay-to-Play: The "charity" voting system allows people to buy extra votes. Does this actually celebrate talent, or just who has the biggest wallet?

šŸ¤– AI Data Mining: There’s a lot of talk that these high-quality uploads are being used for AI training datasets.

As artists, we have to be so careful about where we put our work. Has anyone looked into the Terms of Service to see if we’re accidentally licensing our art to AI companies? šŸ”

I'd love to know your thoughts.
Do you think this is true?

šŸ‘‰ Reasons for our concerns:

Pay-to-Win Mechanics: Most of these high-profile competitions (like "The People's Artist") are run by companies like Colossal or Crowd Vote. They offer one free daily vote but allow supporters to "donate" money for extra votes. While the money often goes to a charity (like The Art of Elysium), artists feel it turns a talent competition into a popularity contest for the wealthy.

The "Vanity Award" Reputation: In the art world, "Pay-to-Play" is often associated with "Vanity Galleries" or predatory awards that charge artists for exposure rather than rewarding the quality of the work.

The AI Connection: When a platform feels like a "money grab" (via paid voting), artists naturally become more suspicious of other ways the platform might be monetizing them—such as selling their data or images to AI companies.

Vague Terms of Service (ToS): Many platforms use "standard" legal language that gives them a perpetual, worldwide license to use, host, and store your uploaded content. While this is often just so they can legally display your art on their site, in the age of AI, artists fear this language allows them to sell the data to companies like Midjourney or OpenAI.

The NFT/Generative History: Depp’s project originally launched as a "generative" NFT collection. Because generative art is the precursor to modern AI art, many traditional artists remain skeptical of the technology and the intentions of the people behind these projects.

The "Scams" Narrative: There have been recent Reddit and social media threads (like in r/ContemporaryArt) specifically discussing whether these celebrity-backed contests are "scams" or "legitimate opportunities," which fuels the skepticism we’re seeing.

Freehanded this black rose. Simplicity can be so much harder than hiding my mistakes in the detail lol. Who can relate?
