Every home has a story. This one goes back more than 100 years.
Amos and Maggie Turley built this Crystal City home in the 1920s. Amos worked as an electrician at PPG. In 1984, our customer's grandmother, Eva, bought the house from one of the Turleys' sons. Our customer grew up visiting there, bought the house from Eva in 2011, and raised her son under the same roof. In 100 years, only three families have called it home.
Much of the original house is still there: the wooden doors, built-in cabinets, a Hoosier cabinet, and several light fixtures. That includes one she found in the basement and recently had restored.
During a kitchen remodel, the house started giving things back: two layers of original flooring, including a circle-and-square linoleum rug, the yellow wall tiles, and a skeleton key found under the radiator that still opens both doors.
We combined those pieces with family photos and recipe cards from her grandmother and aunts into one shadow box. It now hangs in her kitchen, right by the back door, where she admires it every day.
Thank you for trusting us with pieces of your home's story. π€
We hope this inspires you to bring in your own treasures, so we can create something you'll cherish, preserved for generations to enjoy.
