Spotlight Community Theatre is doing something new and unique for our annual fundraiser this year! It’s called A Night of Variety! The event will be a little bit cabaret, a little wild west, a little bit carnival, and a dance party throughout the night. We’ll have 6 one-act variety numbers, introduced by our fantastic emcees and performed by talented Spotlight performers. In between acts, there’ll be carnival-inspired games, raffles, dancing, appetizers, and a cash bar (one free drink ticket with admission).

Dear Community,

When our board chose “A Night of Vaudeville” as the name for our fundraiser this year, we envisioned old-school variety entertainment such as jugglers, singers, and comedy acts. Further research and feedback from stakeholders has provided important context regarding the troubling roots of this entertainment format that perpetuated the racism and cultural stereotypes of the time.

Inclusion is one of our core values, and we want every member of our community to feel welcome. Because of this core mission, we have chosen to change the name of our event to “A Night of Variety”.

Same amazing show, same mission, just a name we can stand fully behind. We can’t wait to see EVERYONE there 💙💙💙

🎭 Celebrating Our Understudies! 🎭

Behind every great production is a group of incredibly talented people who are always ready to step up when they're needed most! ❤️

Being an understudy takes dedication, flexibility, and an incredible amount of hard work. They learn lines, blocking, choreography, songs, and everything that goes into a role, often without knowing if they'll ever get the chance to perform it.

Our understudies this year have been INSANELY talented, hardworking, and committed, and we are so incredibly thankful for everything they have given to our productions. They may not always get the spotlight, but they are an absolutely essential part of our theatre family.

To every understudy who stepped up so far this year: THANK YOU. We see you, we appreciate you, and we are so lucky to have you! 💙🎭✨
