I'M GOING TO IMPROVCON

A first-of-its-kind convention celebrating improvisational theater through performances, workshops, panels, and community connection.

August 20-23, 2026 in San Diego

I'll be teaching two of my signature workshops with the assistance of Ben Zolno, "The Opinion to POV Pipeline", where we discover how simple it is to develop a playable point-of-view organically and joyfully, and "Impulse, Insight, and Emotion", where we learn to let our body tell us how we feel, then use that emotion to make irrational decisions and get ourselves in trouble.

Oliver joins the cast of Deadline, a journalism thriller, this Wednesday, and facilitates some stage time for students in the Viewpoints, Mindfulness, and Meisner course on Sunday!

There's more to every story.

Inspired by movies and TV like Spotlight, All The President's Men, The Paper (1994), and the 5th season of The Wire, Deadline is an improvised journalism mini-thriller. Gasp, laugh, and shake your heads as the reporters of a failing newspaper follow what seems to be a simple story through the halls of power to reveal just how rotten the system is. Navigating politics, budget cuts, and their personal struggles to get ink to page, some of the city's best improvisers craft a story right before your eyes... and before the deadline.

A collection of scenes from unwritten plays

That Happened is an opportunity for Oliver Georgiou's current and former students to work on tools for better organic narrative scenes in a safe environment that encourages a mindful, emotional approach to improv comedy.

NEW WEEKEND COURSE DATES IN APRIL - VIEWPOINTS, MINDFULNESS, AND MEISNER FOR THE ACTOR-IMPROVISER

Hey actors and improvisers! Need a new perspective on improv? Want to loosen up your acting? You've heard teachers and directors tell you to "connect with your scene partner" or "be affected" or to "ground your scene", but do they ever tell you how? This course is all about how.

Viewpoints is a series of tenets that can define the physical reality of each moment onstage. Mindfulness is the practice of being present and aware of what you are feeling and what is happening in and around you without judgement. Meisner technique is recognizing and reacting to behaviour in ourselves and in others without thinking. Together they are the most intuitive and comprehensive improvised acting technique I know.

Make it Meaningful - a workshop

The most memorable improv shows I've seen had something to them that I could connect with; a desire, a theme, a message, etc. There was a deeper meaning to them beyond the plot, games, and jokes. This goes for plays, movies, songs, or any story.

Join me Saturday afternoon at Go Comedy! in Ferndale, Michigan for Make it Meaningful, where we'll work on weaving metaphor and theme into your playstyle. Fantastic for longform and short form narrative, giving your sets a sense of purpose, and laying the groundwork for more satisfying endings to your stories.
