Set in the center of a beautiful barrier island, Amelia Musical Playhouse (AMP) is an entertainment venue in Fernandina Beach featuring musical theatre performances, plays, concerts and more. Amelia Island, FL — Amelia Musical Playhouse presents Once Upon a Mattress, a madcap musical comedy based on The Princess and the Pea. A bold, unconventional princess arrives to win the heart of a prince—if she can survive the outrageous tests of his overbearing mother.
Music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer, with a book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Barer. The production is directed by Bill Ivins and choreographed by Kristin Bean, with Joan Averett leading the orchestra on piano.
The cast features AMP favorites including Mary Williams as the Queen, Jimmy Kalista as the King, and Sophia Rose Loveday as Princess Winnifred. Also featured are Colleen Perry as the Minstrel, Haley Vonnoh as the Jester, Bob O’Hara as the Wizard, with Maggie and Brad Davis as the lovers Lady Larkin and Sir Harry. Introducing Christopher Doody as Prince Dauntless, along with a supporting ensemble of Knights and Ladies-in-Waiting.
Set in a whimsical medieval court, the production features custom costumes by Tammy Lynch and castle-inspired scenery designed by Gregg Dillingham. Stage management is by Beth Perkins and Ismerie Maurer.
Performances run June 4–7 and 11–14, with evening shows Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m.

Audition Requirements:
Elsa: Prepare “Let It Go”
Anna: Prepare “For the First Time in Forever”
All Other Roles: Prepare one minute of a song plus a short monologue
Brief choreography combination will be taught at auditions
Main Characters
Elsa
The future Queen of Arendelle. Reserved, elegant, and deeply emotional while struggling to control her magical powers. Strong vocalist with dramatic range.
Anna
Optimistic, energetic, awkward, and lovable younger sister to Elsa. Big personality with comedic timing and emotional depth.
Kristoff
A rugged ice harvester raised by trolls. Honest, awkward, and charming with a warm heart.
Hans
A handsome prince with charm and ambition hiding beneath the surface.
Olaf
A magical snowman brought to life by Elsa’s powers. Funny, innocent, and full of joy.
Sven
Kristoff’s loyal reindeer companion. Often played physically and comedically by an actor/dancer.

The Amelia Musical Playhouse presents Florida Man: “Shipwrecked”, a fun-filleded r***e of rock classics paired with outrageous—but entirely true—news stories about the legendary “Florida Man.” Somewhere between a news report and a concert, Florida Man: “Shipwrecked” celebrates the wild, weird, and very real stories that only seem to happen here. Written and directed by Bill Ivins, the show blends live music with a comedic news desk format for a night of unpredictable, offbeat entertainment.
The cast features Arlene Filkoff as newscaster Rebecca Junebug, alongside Bill Ivins as her cohost, Billy Ray Moonshine. The band is led by Jill Dillingham on piano, with Monty Smith and Jim Connor on guitars, Jeff Weathers on harmonica, and Mark Gulledge on drums. Making their Florida Man debut are Joe Grant (bass), Alix Delfs (guitar and vocals), and AMP favorite Joey Johnson (vocals)—plus a few surprises along the way!
Performances run for three nights only:
