We’re excited to welcome Sarava Dawson back to the Amelia Island Dance Festival!
Based in Jacksonville, Sarava is a dancer, choreographer, and dance instructor with extensive training across a variety of dance genres. She is passionate about creating meaningful movement and inspiring others through artistry and dance.
One of the things we value most at the Amelia Island Dance Festival is creating opportunities for emerging choreographers to share their work, develop their artistic voices, and be seen by new audiences.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Nyla J. Ideker, the Amelia Island Dance Festival has a brand-new professional Marley dance floor for our artists to perform on this year!

This may look like a roll of flooring, but to a dancer, it is so much more.

The surface dancers perform on matters. It provides the consistency, traction and professional environment they need to move with confidence and perform at their best.

From our young choreographers and emerging artists to the professional guest artists taking our stage, every dancer at this year’s Festival will benefit from Nyla’s generosity.

2026 Visual Artist Announcement

We are thrilled to announce our 2026 Featured Festival Artist — Malique Pye

Malique is a multidisciplinary visual artist originally from Atlanta, Georgia, whose work captures movement, emotion, connection, and the beauty found in fleeting moments. Based in Portland, Oregon, he earned his BFA in Photography from the Pacific Northwest College of Art and has developed a stunning artistic voice inspired by motion, perspective, and human expression.
Many of you already experienced his artistry firsthand during the 2025 Amelia Island Dance Festival, where he beautifully documented our performances, workshops, artists, and community moments with extraordinary care and vision.
What makes Malique’s work so powerful is his ability to preserve the energy of dance — the moments we often miss in real time — and transform them into lasting images that allow us to pause, reflect, and feel.

Beyond his incredible talent, Malique is simply an amazing human being, and we are honored to celebrate him as our 2026 Featured Festival Artist.

A huge thank you to Jon Lehrer for leading our final workshop at Royal Amelia Dance Academy as part of this incredible residency week with the Amelia Island Dance Festival.

We are so grateful to Royal Amelia Dance Academy for hosting this special community dance class and opening their space for dancers to come together, move, learn, and connect.

There was so much joy, energy, and creativity in the room. Jon shared not only his unique movement style, but also his deep passion for dance and the power of movement to bring people together. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this experience so meaningful.
